I loved my stay at Nippondaira Hotel.
It is a bit far away from Shizuoka station but you can get a hotel shuttle bus at a free of charge.
You can check the time table on the hotel website.
40 min-ride will take you to the new world.
The view is just stunning.
If you select 'Mt. Fuji view room', you can enjoy the view from your room.
There is a terrace outside of that room.
Mt. Fuji is always in front of you and city lights of Shimizu are really beautiful..
I was glad I chose this hotel.
There is also a view deck on the 6th floor for the guests who do not select
'Mt. Fuji view room'.
It is worth the stay !!
There are no restaurants around this hotel and dinner is kind of expensive, so you might need to get food at Shizuoka station area if Dinner is not included the package.

Nippondaira Hotel is so beautiful and luxurious, it would absolutely take your breath away! It felt like we were staying right in the midst of an art piece.
It wasn’t just the stunning scenery of Mount Fuji that impressed, but how the view was made possible with the strategic design of rooms, according a “private view” with perfect placement of the beds, sofa, etc.
The service is superb as well. The bellboy (ladies actually) were waiting the moment our car stopped at the kerbside. We were ushered to the lounge area to sit and wait while the check-in formalities were being executed by our guide.
The room was not only tastefully designed but also very well maintained. I did not sight a single speck of dust or stain. The range of toiletries was great; I enjoyed both the matcha and drip coffee, even the water in the water bottles tasted extremely “fresh and sweet”.
It was such an uplifting, calm and serene stay. I felt like a lark when I took my morning stroll in the gardens. If only I had more time, I would take a morning jog before heading over to breakfast. I was sad that I had to leave after one day but will definitely try to come back soon.

Found this hotel by chance really but suspect week known locally. I wanted to stay near Mt Fuji and this came up albeit not in Fuji itself. The web site was little difficult from outside Japan but was pre reopening after covid period. But accepted booking by email.
The impression when you arrive is amazing. Fantastic service and the view when you walk in incredible. Shizuoka city and then Fuji. Incredible. The grounds are amazing and room large and spacious and full window looking out across the view. Dinner options were also excellent as their are 4 different areas to eat. Prices quite reasonable and service again highest level. You don’t really have to leave the hotel and you can just sit and take in the view sipping something nice.
It is worth noting though that just to the back of the hotel is a lookout and many waking paths that can take you to a sky train, shrine or down into the city.

Very limited information on surrounding area. Hotel does not have swimming pool or gym. Breakfast is limited and many dishes were left empty even 30 minutes before the buffet closed. Pastry’s were dry Poor supervision of the buffet. No apology given when problems pointed out to staff

The front desk staff are the worst that i have ever met in Japan.
1. When I arrived, there was no one at the entrance to assist with my luggage bags.
2. When I finally arrived the front desk, both staff did not even bother to try to help.
3. The next morning, i went back to the front desk and there was, again, no one at the front desk.
4. After calling aloud, a lady responded with a sound. But she did not walk out to the front desk.
5. I had to call for her again. Then she slowly strolled to the front desk. She was also very unwelcoming and unfriendly. There was very little attempt to try to help me with my question.
6. I also don’t understand why, the upper terrace, which is a public area, is open from 11am (and not earlier, for the sunrise). The only attraction of this hotel is the view of Mt Fuji (especially sunrise). But they don’t allow guests to the upper terrace.
7. Overall, I think the management needs to spend more time improving the customer’s experience. Poor service. Unthoughtful experience. It is such a pity and a huge disappointment!

We couldn't have asked for more. Stunning view of Mt. Fuji but you must rise early (before 5 am). The garden is wonderful and we spent almost 3 hrs around sunset. The room is wonderful, especially the balcony with build-in seating to enjoy the view. The bathroom has abundant natural light and no need to turn on the lights during the day. Parking is free! We are returning to stay longer next time.

An excellent hotel with magnificent views of the town in the valley and the harbour and on a clear day Mt Fuji. It was a joy to open the curtains in the morning and soak in the view. One I will never forget.
The breakfast was great with a wide variety of dishes.
Unfortunately we choose a French dish for our evening meal and it was not well cooked. Our fault we should have chosen something from the meal which represented the food of the area.
The staff were very pleasant and helpful.

The hotel is secluded atop a hill and 30 min taxi ride from train station. The location provides a break from the city hustle and some much needed tranquility. The staff greeted me upon arrival and the English speaking front desk employee made check in efficient and easy. I arrived at night and after check in we enjoyed a night time drink at the top floor bar. Fantastic view of Shizuoka city and harbor lights. The hotel grounds were lite up in a tasteful manner.
My room was modern and well laid out with an area for doing business, a small table for coffee. The bathroom was big and provisioned with soap, toiletries and various hair and shower products. Very comfortable bed. Room lighting was controlled next to the bed with English labels so I could control the on off for all the lights from the bed. A nice touch. My room was on the 4th floor and from the walk out balcony I had a spectacular view of the city lights. Morning revealed the fantastic view of the city, port and surrounding mountains through the wall the ceiling window. Fuji san dominates view. The morning was cloudy so I only saw bottom half of Fuji san but it was still impressive. As an American I appreciated that the room came with single serve drip coffee for my morning cup of joe.
The hotel breakfast buffet has a wide selection of traditional Japanese dishes and local specialty items such as Shirasu, the tiny white fish. I eat Shirasu with rice, a little daicon radish and a splash of soy sauce. Delicious. After breakfast we strolled the pathway through the manicured lawn and grounds. We checked out of the hotel and headed to the Nippondaria zoo for the day. Nippondaria hotel was a great place to stay. All the staff were so friendly and helpful, the room was perfect and the view memorable.

Hello John-san, Thank you very much for sharing this wonderful review. We are so happy to hear you have appreciated our comfy room, dining experience, upper lounge cocktail and our garden, to say nothing of the surrounding views. It was unfortunate that you could not enjoy the entire Mt. Fuji view this time, but maybe next time! We are so much looking forward to welcoming you again in the near future! Again, thank you very much for taking out your time to write this review. Warm regards from Nippondaira Hotel Team

About 30 minutes from Shizuoka station, we came to this hotel with elevated expectations. As per all other reviews, the view is magnificent (esp on a clear day) and the grounds amazing. Though rooms are on the smaller end, it was clean, functional and comfortable. We however felt the service to be lacking and if compared to the usual Japanese standards, severely underwhelming. With the influx of Chinese tourists, its foolhardy for some of the staff to apply the same brush of preconceptions to foreign guests. This is evident at check-in and breakfast service. We had dinner at the Japanese restaurant as we arrived late and enjoyed our experience. However, its one establishment we would give a miss the next time we pass by - in spite of the amazing views it holds.
