Stayed overnight in Matsumoto before taking a bus to Kamikochi. This hotel is not far from the train station Exit the station, use the East exit, you will see the ‘ Joy Joy ‘ building, follow this street and you will find Dormy Inn Its a small 9 storey hotel and my one night’s accomodation was ¥18,705 Friendly polite English speaking staff Before going up the lift, there is a cabinet where you can collect your toothbrushes, comb, shaver and other toiletries if you have forgotten to bring. Very generous! The room is 23m sq but adequate size with a good size firm bed an a small firm pillow, my fav type! ( not stone hard la!) I love they have extra basin in the corner with a mini fridge, kettle and hairdryer, on top of the usual basin in the compact bathroom, so use can wash your fruits, cups without disturbing your partner in the bathroom. The hotel has a dual sex onsen, reasonable size with 3 pools, cold, warm and an outdoor even warmer pool. Good during winter, I reckon, fun when snowing! The breakfast is adequate with a mix of Japanese and Continental dishes and fruits. Delicious and importantly clean and tidy. To top it all, they provide free ramen at night to those who are suddenly ravenous! And probiotic drinks and ice cream after your onsen dip Oh they also provide free laundry ( theres 2 machines with detergen provided free too) but if you use their dryer its only ¥100 This is a lovely hotel and I am delighted to stay here. Will come again.

This is one of the smaller properties in the Dormy Inn chain. That being said it still has the spa and leashing machines, varied breakfast buffet, late night ramen noodles and good service. There was a loud whistle coming from bad seals in the windows in our rooms and they upgraded us to twins immediately. It was the off season but we felt very well looked after. The location is a short walk from the station and well located.

stayed here 2 nights after we did the hike from magome to tsamago, through the preserved villages along the way, great 5 mi. hike. had stayed at the dormy inn in takamatsu so we knew what to expect. easy walk from the train station. close to good restaurants. clean. good breakfast. found some very cool areas nearby. cosmopolitan feel to the city. this hotel had a good location and met all our needs. we like to be able to open the window for fresh air. room fridge was handy as was the kettle. we didn't use the onsen nor try the free noodles. i'd recommend.

Dear jarmwr40, Thank you for staying at Dormy Inn Takamatsu as well as Dormy Inn Matsumoto. The road from Magome to Tsumago is a very good way to enjoy the traditional scenery of Japan. Our hotel is a 5-minute walk from Matsumoto Station, making it a great place to stay for travel. Matsumoto Castle is a 15-minute walk away. Matsumoto Castle is historically old and is a perfect castle for experiencing Japanese culture. Thank you for liking our hotel. Dormy Inn, located throughout Japan, has hot springs in most buildings and free noodles at night. We will be very happy if we use some Dormy Inn the next time we travel to Japan. I look forward to seeing you again. dormy-inn Matsumoto

Onsen was a treat. Location of hotel is not too bad, even as we had to drag a luggage from the train station to the hotel. Friendly staff. Business class hotel. For location, for onsen, will recommend.

LOCATION - excellent for touring and back and forth walking to train station. Straight flat walk. We love Matsumoto - it is so liveable and nice vibe, most folks blow in and see the castle and blow out. We stayed three nights and did hiking day trips from here. Go see the castle at night. STAFF - super efficient, friendly, helpful ROOM - triple room (double and twin bed) for the two of us. Perfect comfort AMENITIES - fridge, kettle, instant coffee/tea. Free coffee in lobby. Lounge clothes to wear in hotel and up the lovely rooftop Onsen. (traditional - separate mens/ladies) they give you instructions if you need info. We used Onsen facilities instead of our own shower etc to get ready in the morning and at night before retiring. Never used the restaurant or free Ramen at night, just the free coffee. . We just ate our hard boiled eggs etc from 7/11 purchased the day before and put in fridge overnight. For fab fab Indian Curry - Doon Shokudo Indoyama TiNY negative - There is a food smell in the lobby and floors of the food from restaurant - but not in the room. So that is OK

Thank you for using this time. Thank you for a nice review. All the hotel staff were happy with your words. This hotel is close to the station and within walking distance of the famous Matsumoto Castle. In addition, tourists can easily walk by providing luggage storage services before check-in and after check-out. The public bath is a hot spring that can be used all night from 15:00 to 9:00 the next day. (Sauna is closed from 0am to 5am) There are also free services for guests. Free coffee is served from 15:00 to 23:00, and soy sauce ramen is provided free of charge from 21:30 to 23:00. Breakfast is charged, but you can eat as much as you like in a buffet of Japanese and Western dishes. When you come to Matsumoto City, please use Dormy Inn Matsumoto. dormy-inn matsumoto

The hotel is close enough to the train station that we could roll our luggage there. It's also not that far to walk to sites of interest. So overall, it has a great location. The most surprising was its spa. Considering the cost value of the hotel (reasonably priced), it probably had one of the nicest spas we used during our travels in Japan. Really enjoyed it. The rooms are clean and we slept well. Its definitely worth a stay if passing through Matsumoto.

We love the Dormy chain, which never fails to offer great value and a relaxing, comfortable stay. The room was clean as usual. The window opened only a bit but there was good aircon (Japanese hotel rooms can be stuffy). Good western style beds. Nice toasty baths upstairs. There was a bit of a food smell in the corridors at breakfast time. That said, the breakfast spread was more generous than usual. We loved the local apple juice. The staff was very helpful. We arrived before check-in time and when we returned our bags had been taken up to the room. We highly recommend Dormy!

Thank you for choosing our hotel for your stay in Matsumoto. Your good comments made us very happy. The local meal of breakfast, free ramen service "Yonaki-soba", clean guest room even if small, and hot natural spring spa are strong point of our hotel. Matsumoto area is famous for apples. The apple juice from a hometown is particular. Please come to Matsumoto again some day. And we're looking forward meet you again at our chain hotel in Japan!

This hotel is located at a very convenient location, less than 10 minutes walk from the JR station. I arrived a bit earlier than the usual check-in time and they were very helpful and asked me to wait at the lobby seating area to get my room ready. There is a small onsen inside the hotel. It is clean and comfortable. They also have the noodles as night snack which is not to be missed. Room rate is very reasonable but do not expect a very large room as it is a business hotel.

Hotel is very central. Staff is very professional and helpful. Forgot some things in the room, they were very helpful, by sending them to my next hotel. The only remark I have is that once you put your car at the parking, every time you take the car out, you have tom pay again... This is a bit strange, as hotels in Japan always allow you to move your car from their parking, and charging you only once. Over all, a very pleasant stay, breakfast was EXCELLENT !!! If you put on your door the sign of : cleaning is not needed, then you will get a nice small present from the reception. In the evening, they have a small meal for free at the lobby-restaurant.
