This was a wonderful experience and once not to be missed but important to acquaint oneself with the rules so as not to upset the hotel staff who could not be more charming. Spacious rooms with dressing area, sleeping/sitting area, sitting area overlooking the town below, bathroom with good shower and separate basin area. Very clean and room servicing rolls...

This is probably the best place to rediscover yourself and touch Japan on a personal level. After winding through the absolutely gorgeous streets of Takayama and taking in the stunning view of the city from the hill, we were greeted by the staff like we were old friends. After carefully explaining the hotel and its layout, we were booked into...

The ryokan is centrally located in the beautiful town of Takayama and most of the sights are walkable from the ryokan. The ryokan was the most local experience for me in the entire trip. The room is spacious enough for two people and decent air-conditioning/heater. However, both the shower and bathroom (public bath) is shared and some people may have...

Authentic ryokan with shared bathrooms. The ladies looking after the place are extremely generous and gave us some cut up apples for free! Our room was large and featured air-conditioning, fridge, a safe and a cupboard. The beds were simply mattresses on the floor but were comfortable enough and we had no problems. The location is handy for the train...

We stayed for one night only as this is all we could get - we were in Takayama for the spring festival. We had a room with a private bathroom. Plenty of space for the two of us. The view from our room was across the city as well. Service was great - very helpful and polite. Drove us in...

Very enjoyable stay. It is a big place for a ryokan but the staff couldn't do enough for us, parking the car, showing us around and arranging meal times etcIt is quite a way from the main town and we got lost trying to find it, so they sent a car to meet us and lead us back. We were...

If you'd like a pricy trip back to the future, 80s style, this hotel is for you. However, chances are that you're not into that kind of stuff. Instead, you're looking for a taste of pre-WWII Japan, or perhaps a thoroughly modern 21st century experience (which the Japanese often excel at). You'll find none of that here. The hotel is...

I booked two nights at this hotel without finding any reviews so I was very nervious. The hotel has an english website. The hotel has ryokan style rooms. Very basic room with an old television. We had a room with a washroom. The hotel was full of families, kids, teens, parents and grandparents. There were even a few drunk middle...
