I was unsure about booking here until I saw the overwhelmingly positive reviews. I was definitely not disappointed! The friendly staff were always available to pick us up from Takayama or to drop us off there. (The guesthouse is a 15 min drive/50 min walk from the town centre) Everyone came out to farewell us on our final morning too!...

We stayed only one night in the auberge, but it has been an amazing experience... The place has been fully renovated following the Japanese tradition and the good taste of their owners. Sharing the bathroom will not bother you at all when you will realize that you actually get a private Onsen ! We recommend to take the set dinner...

Hidanomori is a wonderful auberge a short drive from Takayama city center. The rooms are modern and nicely decorated. The bed was comfy, so I had a good night sleep. My room also had a nice view into the woods. 5 course dinner with hida beef was brilliant. 2 baths for relaxation and shared bathrooms. All staff very friendly. highly...

This is a 4.9-star bed & breakfast with a 5-star Italian restaurant in it. No kidding!! This lovely, quiet, warm and inviting retreat, nestled near some woods outside of Takayama serves Italian dinners that rival 5-star Italian restaurants in the big city, but with the added advantage of being only minutes away from the fields in which the dinner ingredients...

We booked two nights here and were picked up at Takayama station. The auberge is located just outside the centre, very peacefull and quiet. Our room was pre-heated when we arrived, which we found very comfortable as it was pretty cold outside. The rooms are modern, have a good size and the western style bed was very comfortable and clean....

Only 15min from the train station and town, and perfect hosts who make you feel right at home. Wonderful log fires and cosy rooms that are spotlessly tidy. Shared bathrooms and toilets are not a problem, as there are not many rooms and it doesn't feel too crowded. The breakfast that come with the rooms is simply amazing, as is...

Lovely Japanese Pension set in a wooded area 5 to 10 minutes by car from the town centre (depending on traffic). Great shuttle service – wherever you want to go, whenever you want to go there. Modern interior with a convivial open-plan lounge area with wood-burning stove and hot drinks. Lovely, spotlessly clean rooms. No ensuite facilities but clean toilets...

This bnb is nicely situated up in the mountain surrounded by trees. Very cosy setting and friendly staff. The Italian Japanese fusion dinner was excellent, even with some good choices of Italian wines. I would award them a Michelin star!

This is a great place to stay as the service is superb and the owners are very friendly. "Taking over" the business from her parents (they are still there working!) who started this place in 1979, Keiko and her husband Toshi really put in lots of effort to make the place cozy. Dinner is optional and is Italian. I had...
