We only had 3 days (2 nights) here, but it was a special place, on the banks of the Zambezi river. Service was absolutely excellent, as was the food and the lodge. There is a maximum of 18 guests (9 lodges) but as luck would have it, there was just the two of us at the time, with 16 guests... More

It was our first trip to Zambia and the Victoria falls, we had a wonderful time staying in this cozy quaint friendly lodge amidst its untouched, natural setting It is situated on the banks of the Zambezi River, in Mosi-oa-Tunya park, outside Livingstone town. The Thorn Tree River Lodge offers wildlife (hippos and elephants) on your doorstep. At dinnertime the... More

We had a wonderful stay at Thorntree. I can't say enough about Florence and her staff - not only did they provide custom menus for several of us with food allergies, they also were extremely accommodating to my friend who developed thrush in her mouth and could only eat smoothies at every meal. The rooms were great - you can't... More

Our stay at Thorntree was fantastic. Florence and her staff made sure that we were well taken care of, including providing gluten free options for my two friends. The food was certainly plentiful! Our rooms were "rustic" but well appointed and the staff did a nice job of cleaning and providing us everything that we needed. We organized activities through... More

The lodge is located beside the Zambezi River and inside the jungle, peacefully and privately. The color of the surface of the water changed from morning to evening, and some mammals visited this place, most exiting of all is Hippos!which took their dinner in the night, several metres from me...I guess it will be a most imopressive thing of my life that night I... We had an amazing stay at Thorn Tree River Lodge during our stay in September 2014 - one to remember. It was our first trip to Zambia and we thoroughly enjoyed all that the Lodge had to offer - from the wildlife (hippos and elephants), our spacious lodge on the Zambezi with an utside shower, to the good food and... My wife and I spent several days here on our honeymoon. The service was the best I have experienced. We had the whole place to ourselves and were treated like royalty. It was actually a little hard to accept that level of service. We had a chalet right on the river and it was very, very nice. The staff were... More

The location of the Thorntree River Lodge is extremely scenic and very peaceful and quiet. The hippos can be heard throughout the day and seen frequently from your private porch. Florence and her staff are exceptional and work extremely hard to give a five star experience in a property that is in need of upgrades. Florence is planning these upgrades... More

When we walked into Thorntree Lodge and saw the Zambezi flowing by the hospitality deck - we were taken aback by the beauty of this environment. The location of Thorntree is beyond compare. It is a vista that you photograph every day, because you fear you may not have captured the mood of the river and environs as you see... More

We stayed 2 nights at the Thorntree River Lodge after our 10-day Okavango Delta Safari. After sleeping in a tent for 10 days, it was wonderful to sleep in the wonderfully plush king size bed at Thorntree. Our cottage sat feet from the Zambezi River and we could see the mist from Victoria Falls as we sipped our gin and... More
