In my opinion Registon hotel is not a 4 star hotel. It’s a 3 star category hotel because it’s rooms are not good and clean old blankets and old pillows. Only breakfast is good. And also hotel building is beautiful and big.

If you are an individual traveler, avoid this hotel. WiFi doesn't work, rooms are noisy, cashier machine and exchange office are often not available. Rooms are small, single rooms have narrow small beds.

I've stayed there one night in May. Had a little problem with A/C in my room but after a while they were fix it. Everything else was good. Room and bathroom were clean and spacious enough. Bonus is a fridge in the room. Bed was comfortable and staff was polite. Espresso in the bar is excellent and money excange office in the hotel is a plus. Hotel is not far from the most important sights of Samarkand.

Room 305, as most others (reports from fellow travelers) had a air conditioning problem. Fan and compressor-motor were running but the generated cold was insufficient most probably due to a lack of Freon/Frigen in the system. Like in most hotels in Uzbekistan we had to surrender our passports which I don't like. Breakfast ok, there are some nice restaurants in the vicinity on the back street. The pool was filled but not often frequented.

The outdoor pool was a major attraction here or should've been. But it was drained and not refilled before we left. The wifi is limited to the reception area so gets extremely crowded when large groups try to get online. The rooms are unexciting and tired as are the communal areas. The dining room experience is best when busy. The bonus is that staff are friendly and work well despite the limitations that they have to work with. It was a bit disconcerting to have a policeman based in the lobby each evening. Why was this necessary?
