Hotel's Favourite
This is the 2nd time my husband and I have stayed at Rixos Bab Al Bahr at Marjan Island and I can't praise it enough. Where to start, check-in staff polite and friendly, very efficient. The room we had was very similar to our first stay last year, large, bright, great decor, very very clean, amazing sized terrace. The hotel is very clean no matter where you go, the cleaners are busy all day long in every area - they do a fantastic job. The buffet restaurant is excellent (and its the first time I've ever said that about a buffet restaurant) - they have to cater for so many people and they do it brilliantly, there really is something for everyone - big shout out to Sanjay who made the most wonderful omelette for my husband every morning and he's never without a smile. The buffet can get busy at times especially on a Saturday when the locals come to the hotel and then we couldn't actually get in for lunch and ended up at the snack bar (you do wonder if there is an app available that you could use to show you how busy the restaurants are at any given time - or I would recommend booking the Italian for lunch on the Saturday to stay away from the buffet). The hotel also has some a la carte restaurants, we tried Steakhouse, Seafood, Turkish and Italian (you need to prebook these - we prebook them all on the first morning for our stay so we know that we are sorted for our stay) - all were great food, there setting is amazing as they all overlook the sea and you have a choice of dining outside or inside at all of them. The service at all the restaurants is amazing and the food fabulous, never did we have one meal that wasn't brilliant. The snack bar on the other hand is not good and its a shame because its in a great spot overlooking the sea but the menu could really do with a revamp - not everyone who eats there just wants burger and chips. The lounge inside the hotel is a wonderful place to sit for a drink and listen to the pianist on an afternoon/evening - great service, lovely and clean and great air con in the heat. Each night there is a variety of entertainment - stuff for the kids but also at the 2nd stage area there is something each night to please the whole family - dancing, violinist, sax - big shout out to the dance team, they really are brilliant. We spent a couple of days on the beach then the remainder of our holiday at the adults only infinity pool - it has its own bar and is for over 21's. Plenty of sun loungers and brollies. The life guard does a great job of keeping kids out. I would definitely stay here again, we are already looking at going back in Sept, yes its 50 mins out of town but its probably the best hotel I've been to, better than Rixos on the Palm in my opinion due to value for money with amazing service - you genuinely never see any staff without a smile, always polite and helpful. We pre-book our taxi from the airport and it cost £110 but that was for the return journey also so £55 each way isn't bad. There are taxi's based at the hotel if you need one. Yes in an ideal world the hotel would have a shuttle bus on daily to go into Dubai & return if you fancy a day out but you can't have everything can you! I really can't recommend this hotel and its staff enough.

We stayed a week before Xmas for 6 nights having booked 24 hrs beforehand.
We really enjoyed our time mainly due to the very friendly, helpful attentive staff who all work so hard.
We had booked a premium garden view room however, were very disappointed with the tiny balcony and view. The room was freezing (lack of sun and AC only heats to 18c) so moved the next day and to the same specification of room, yet so different and amazing.
You need to book the restaurants from your room between 1-5pm however, these can all be made on your first day in one go. You can also book the Italian for a la Carte lunch which we would highly recommend doing as you cannot have lunch in the Italian on the day without a booking.
Very safe during the covid period, a mask is compulsory, temperature taken, hand gel dispensers everywhere, 2 people per lift and walk in one direction. (Although some people do ignore all this).
We were on the 6th floor and used the stairs most times – although they are not very pleasant and probably meant as an emergency exit only.
This is a small resort, easy to get around and consists of 3 mains buildings all close together. Pharmacy on site, very reasonable prices with knowledgeable staff.
The good ...
Great food and wine inc sparkling
Al la carte restaurants
Amazing Mojito bar/drinks/staff
Adults only pool/bar with DJ and Sax player every afternoon
Fast wifi
The not so good ...
Busy buffet/chaos during busy periods
Shower – luke warm with very low pressure
Remote location
Lots of badly behaved children, especially in the restaurants
I would rate this as a 4* hotel due to some facilities lacking - and a bit tired in the rooms, grounds and public areas but overall very good value with the all inclusive option.

Dear dmg923, Greetings from the Rixos Bab Al Bahr! We would like to take the opportunity to thank you again for choosing Rixos for your recent holiday, and also for taking the time to complete an online satisfaction survey to share your views on our hotel when you returned home. We are pleased to read that you were pleased by the service from our team members as well as liked our food and beverage options along with the restaurants and bar plus entertainment, Wi-Fi and Adult only pool. As part of our commitment to provide the best experience possible for our guests, we highly value all feedback and seek to make any possible improvements based on your comments. We feel very sorry that you faced some issues in your room but luckily addressed your concerns and our team moved you directly. We do have peak times sometimes in our buffet. However our security and safety team along with stay safe officers are always trying to be present then to keep the social distancing and PPE wearing. Lastly, about the Shower in your bathroom has to be said that we are using Blue head showers. Those filters are to safe the planet and to avoid the wastage of water consumption as well as healthier for your skin. We have shared your comments with our Executive Management to work on improvements of our quality level, just to strengthen the strong rope between our guests and our staff. We would be very happy to have you back in our house to provide you with the most refined hospitality experiences again in Ras Al-Khaimah! With Kind Regards,

Located just under one hour from Dubai, the Rixos really does provide all inclusive food and drink from dawn to dusk. The food is not gourmet quality, though it is a varied cuisine and cooked to a good standard, likewise the standard double rooms are not 5 star in the accepted Western sense, though they are very clean and comfortable and would deserve a 4 star. At just under 700 rooms it is a big resort, predominantly family orientated with activities and entertainments seemingly running all day, so it is not a quiet hotel. That said, as a couple we have thoroughly enjoyed a 7 day stay here - planning when and where you eat and go during the day allows you to avoid the busier/noisier arears if you so wish. To this end,the Cabana Club (paid extra per day) is a private beach on the edge of the resort, with your own Cabana, sun beds and waiter service - this is an excellent solution if you are looking to escape the 'permanently on' background noise of the resort. We were looked after tirelessly by Halil at the Cabana Club, no request was too much and our thanks to his effort and service. In conclusion, the Rixos provides a very clean, friendly and comfortable all inclusive holiday, ideal for winter sun without breaking the budget.

Rooms very spacious and lovely. However, we booked and paid for Garden view and were somewhat surprised to have a 'Street view'....when we complained to management they gave us a much nicer room with sea glimpses and a much bigger balcony. Thank you! Buffet was a shambles. Far too many people and the buffet was quite small for the amount of people who were eating there. Was disgusted by people leaving loads of food on their plates! The first morning we went to guest services and booked the restaurants for the whole week. The food and service there was marvellous! We went to the Italian twice, meat point and Asian and they were all lovely. So much nicer then the buffet. For breakfast we always went to Toast'n Burger which was fabulous too for lunch which we really enjoyed. Fantastic Mojito Bar next to the restaurants (this was all included too) and the beach bar was ok and served soft drinks, water & beer. No other drinks available there but that was ok for us. The house red wine was really nice and I enjoyed it. In fact, all drinks were lovely and the food in all the restaurants outstanding but you must book these through guest services preferrably on your first day between 10am-1pm. We were there at 9.50am and already 2 people in front of us waiting. My advise is to be there at 9.45am so you won't have to wait in a big queue. Lots and lots of russian folk in this hotel. Most were ok though. Trip to Dubai Mall in a taxi cost us 180AED to get there and 300AED to get back to the hotel. Quite expensive but worth it to see. Weather was great every day. Mostly around 29 degrees with a light wind which was welcomed. Would definitely stay in this hotel again but don't book Garden View rooms as basically it means Street View and cars/motorbikes can be heard in your room even with the windows/doors closed. Book Pool view or Sea view. Small shops available to buy everything you need. Cheapest cigarettes were 15AED per pack which works out just short of £4. Sun cream around 80AED.

Family of 2 adults and 2 teenagers living in Dubai. We visiting for a much needed long weekend after a stressful few months. We saved to go here for a number of months however what we found was that it was not a 5 * experience
The most shocking thing for us was the sanitation and covid 19 protocols. Most guests were not wearing masks, hardly any hand sanitiser dotted around the hotel, even in the ladies toilet by the pool there was no sanitiser! The front desk which had 3 check in points only had one bottle of sanitiser in the middle of the three! Around the pool the sun beds are all stained even though they appear to be sanitised each evening they are defiantly not sanitised between guests. Getting a sunbed by the pool is very difficult as towels are placed on beds by other guests and then left for most of the day.
Drinks are served at the pool bar in paper cups which is fine however whist seated around the bar towards the beach you are also served wine, cocktails and beer in paper cups - not what I would expect from a hotel that sells itself as 5*. The cocktails are horrendous, ready made in most cases. Gross!
We only ate in the buffet restaurant once, very busy but good selection. The steak and Italian a la carte restaurant are good but the menu is limited. The burger and toast restaurant was terrible, rock hard buns, chips tasted of dirty oil. Awful
The staff are lovely and do the best they can, trying to enforce mask wearing to many rude tourists who don’t seem to understand the rules in the UAE.
The rooms are lovely. A big shout out to the housekeeping team who filled the mini bar especially Kamlesh who was super friendly. We did have one issue with the room. The silk cushions on the bed were all stained, not nice given the current covid situation. Again the hotel fails for me on cleanliness.
We won’t be returning to this Rixos in a hurry

Dear rainyinhanoi, Thank you for choosing Rixos Bab Al Bahr and taking a moment to share your experiences with us! It saddens to see that your recent stay with us was overall not up to your expectations and that you faced some issues while you were here. Please be informed that we are following very strictly all guidelines and restrictions coming from local authorities. Our security- and safety team along with the local stay safe officers are always present in our premises to make sure that everything is being followed according to the rules especially in regards to social distancing and PPE. Sadly, sometimes we are facing difficulties with guests behaviors. In those cases are warnings and if necessary legal actions being taken directly by the local authorities on spot. Additionally, we also believe that it is everyone's own responsibility to follow the rules for yours as well ours safety and health. In each of our restaurants, bars and restrooms you can find always hand sanitizers. Especially in each public restroom the dispensers are mounted on the wall and not portable. In our lobby area you can find 5 dispensers plus the dispensers at the check in counters which are 6. We have a daily routine cleaning for our sunbeds. However, they can get easily dirty on daily basis especially if gets are consuming any food and beverages. We wish you would have addressed your concerns while you were here. Our team would have been more than happy to assist you directly on spot and to find some alternatives especially when you had difficulties to find sunbeds around our pools. The Rixos brand stands for the huge food and beverage variety. This is what most of the guests brings to us and usually for everyone's taste is something to find. We feel sorry for the inconveniences caused and would like to inform you that your invaluable feedback is well noted and has been shared with the concerned departments. Although your stay with us did not meet your expectations this time, our team would be very much looking forward to having the chance of welcoming you back soon. So we remain with kind regards,

Our stay in Rixos Bab Al Bahar was a memorable one! It’s a huge place with amazing facilities and staff.
From the time we checked in to the hotel, until we checked out the service was par excellence. The staff from the cleaners to the managers were very polite and always there to help with a smile on their face.
Everything went smoothly as planned and our requests were met beyond our expectations, with the help of exceptionally reliable, kind and extremely helpful guest relation hosts. We booked a full board package for 2 nights in premium rooms with beach views, and it was perfectly set-up as per our needs during our stay. The housekeeping team was extremely helpful with courteous service.
The hotel has 3 or 4 pools including an infinity pool facing the beach with kids’ water sports and plenty of indoor and outdoor recreational activities for adults. Tennis, Basketball, Table Tennis, Billiards, jet skiing, kids outdoor play area are some of the activities available within the hotel premises.
The buffet served for breakfast, lunch and dinner at the Seven Heights Restaurant was exceptionally good and had a large variety of cuisines to satisfy our taste buds.
Fish Bone Restaurant is a must for dinner, and we met “Ibrahim” and the team who were amazing in terms of hospitality and welcoming us. Most of all, the sea food was great and beyond our expectation. We couldn’t checkout the other restaurants due to the short stay, but maybe next time we will try more options with the other restaurants.
Will come back here and recommend the place to anyone 100%!

Thank you Rixos Bab Al Bahr for a wonderful and safe Shortcation, it is the only hotel I can call a fully equipped 5 star resort and family escape.
We were two families with six children aged between 17-7 years old among us, worried about covid-19 and public gatherings we were very pleased to see how very strict Rixos was about wearing the mask and social distancing in all it’s facilities, which made us feel safe and relieved and therefore, we spent the whole time busy exploring the place, doing activities, the little ones enjoyed Rixy Kids Club which has a full time schedule for children, while the teenagers spent the afternoon in Teens Republic, and we all enjoyed swimming in four different pools, playing in the outdoor area, walking and looking for sea shells at the beautiful and super clean beach, lounging by the pool and of course enjoying delicious food at Seven Heights, which offers breakfast, Lunch and Dinner with theme nights. We also managed to try different A La Carte Restaurants such as Lalezar , Fish Bone, Meat Point and L’Olivo, which I recommend for their fresh ingredients, piece of art dishes and amiable atmosphere. As my husband says if the place is perfect and the food is bad it ain’t a vacation. But for us it was the perfect combination, and with not one complaint from any of kids we managed to upgrade our experience as parents, and take advantage of that and enjoy a relaxing Turkish bath and massage at Avitane Spa, which I can only say is a very professional, spacious and clean spa with quality products and nice employees, I was reluctant at the beginning because I had pain in my neck and shoulder but I came out pain free, feeling fresh and healthy. (Thank you Samar for the wonderful massage and care. )

An honest review.
After visiting Dubai twice previously staying at the JA Palm Tree we decided to try the Rixios Bab Al Bahr. Currently staying in room 2233 McCann... on reading recent reviews we tried to change hotels, unable to do so we arrived with some concerns.
5 days into our holiday and not one for doing reviews we feel it necessary to give an honest opinion from a seasond traveller staying at many 5 star hotels around the world.
Starting with the negatives and they are not really negatives.. 😀
The hotel is a bit tired looking and could do with a refresh..
They do serve paper cups around the pool, we brought plastic cups and the bartenders were happy to serve drinks in them.
Yes the hotel is over an hour from central Dubai but thats made clear when you book so if your looking to do excursions there then maybe stay somewhere closer.
The positives 😀
The food is some of the best we have had, we have eaten in the Fish bone, Italian and Asian and the food is high restaurant quality like in the UK. We have used the Seven Heights for lunch a couple of times and again great selection, hot food and plenty of choice. We had no issue booking the restaurant, simply call and make your reservations for the week, we didn't get every night but most, fingers crossed we can get in the Fish bone tomorrow for our final night.
The staff are very friendly, to many to mention but yet to meet a miserable one, from the restaurants, bars, reception and pool staff all have been great.
The pools, we have only used the adult only pool which again has been fantastic.
The Sports Bar and Mojito Bar, great bars, pool in the Sports great cocktails in the Mojito. Not seen much entertainment but from the bits we have seen have been good. All in all a great holiday with good food and drinks.. if you have booked rest assured you will have a great time.. remember the plastic cups if you are offended by paper ones.

We were a party of 4 adults and we stayed 23rd December - 30 December.
The plus points are:
Friendly/helpful reception and concierge
Rooms and bathrooms were clean and spacious
A la Carte restaurants (Meat point, Italian and Turkish) were all good food and good service
The Cigar bar (Adult only) was a nice break from the family type entertainment going on by the beach and played lots of the UK football on the TV's.
Beach was nice and clean
The points needing improvement:
The buffet restaurant was chaotic, messy and the food quality was poor
Adult only pool is too small and the sun loungers were packed in
The queues to book the Al la carte restaurants were horrendous as there isn't an app to pre book restaurants
The Al la Carte restaurants need to be larger and there needs to be more to of them to service the number of guests

The buffet food served for lunch and breakfast felt like prison food. The chicken was undercook from the inside (which is a food hazard) and so were the eggs.
Zero social distancing at the buffet area. People were lined up right behind each other on the buffet despite having social distancing staff..
Staff not attentive at all.. no one picks up their phones. Called reception staff over 10 times about the single beds provided (we requested at booking a queen bed for my wife and I) they either don’t pick up or promise to call back and find a solution, which they obviously never did. We waited for 4 hours to get a call back and they never did.
For restaurant and bars (part of all inclusive deal) you’ll need to call and reserve. Convenient thing is that they never pick up the phone for you to be able to reserve. More than 15 calls later and after making a big deal and complaining to multiple staff, we got a call back later and reserved dinner and bar at 10:30. We went to the bar on time for our reservation and sat there for exactly one hour, only to be asked by the staff and manager to leave as they had another booking they needed to make room for. We were latterly asked to leave the place. They never informed us of a time limit for the booking. The staff at the hotel are not trained properly it seems to run a hotel, let alone a 5 star hotel.
In summary:
1. Terrible service
2. Unprofessional staff
3. Hygiene and safety not met
4. Zero value for money
