This is a fascinating and romantic hotel. Like many of the Urgup boutique hotels, it was a derelict stone house until its recent renovation. It is partly built into the hill behind, hence the title 'cave hotel' (nothing to do with cave men!), around a courtyard garden, complete with rose bushes, private nooks, several cats -- and two pet tortoises....

We visited Cappadocia over a year ago and stayed at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel in Avanos. As with the large chains it was comfortable, but with the multitude of buses coming in to unload the tourists, it became a quick lesson in staying there. Breakfast was like watching locusts devour everything. We had to get our own refills on...

A stunning cave hotel in Urgup with rooms tastefully furnished in local handicrafts. The restaurant serves excellent local food and has an extensive menu at both breakfast and dinner. the staff are friendly and professional and trips in and around Cappadocia can be arranged on request.

We had a pleasant stay here with a clean, comfortable room in a "cave" style room. Our room was quite large (we got a big suite as it was our honeymoon) and a separate "tv room" which was even more into the cave. The bathroom was spacious with a big shower and copper bath tin (you find them at Turkish...

The owner of the hotel arranged for a free airport shuttle for us from kayseri airport. There was a slight hiccup and they got the wrong flight. No matter, a few phonecalls later we were put on a mini van and bundled to Urgup. The hotel is up the hill from Urgup central. The hotel has a lovely garden with...

I checked in late and left early so didnt spend much time in the hotel but my room was spectacular. I was on my own but it was a massive room with everything you could wish for beautiful big bathroom, comfy bed, loads of beautiful Turkish rugs on the floor and all in a cave location! The dining setting was...

We spent three nights in this hotel with another couple. We arrived in the middle of the night and were taken to our rooms, but later discovered that we had been given the wrong rooms - we had the more expensive room the other couple had booked, while they had the less expensive room we had booked. In the end,...

This is a beautiful property done up in a quaint way and we were served excellent vegetarian food during our stay. However the owner is rather overbearing. Was very pushy in recommending a carpet store next door which should be cautiously avoided as it is too high priced.

Wow, we were treated like royalty stayed in the Garden Suite which was just amazing behind the closed gate with private garden, the bathroom with a lovely spa was just the place to relax after the day full of adventures. Mr Halil couldn't do enough for us, he organised a guide for a days private tour at no cost to...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Selcuklu Evi is a fine example of Seljuk architecture. This antique house has been restored by hand. The local craftsmen of Urgup spent two years to complete this restoration. Each block was carried from the local area and then manually sculpted and leveled before becoming part of Selcuklu Evi. Situated in a small lane surrounded by local homes and gardens this area has panoramic views of rock hewn caves and the old village of Urgup. ... more   less
