The cleanliness of the hotel really stands out and you always see staff cleaning everywhere
As for the serving staff at the bars and in the restaurants they were all so friendy and helpful and always
brought your drinks to you rather than you go back and get them yourself. I really could'nt fault any of them.
The rooms were very modern, with a lovely shower. The TV did only have BBC world news in English but that didnt really bother us as we wasnt in there much, just to shower and change really.
All in all we would definitely go back to this hotel. Definitely 5 stars from us.
Thanks again to all the staff for making it a great holiday. Hopefully see you all again next year!
Plenty of beds to be had but you have to be up early to reserve your spot at pool or garden. By 10 there were no spare beds at pool and no people as everyone had put their towels on and gone. SELFISH. Management could do something about it.
Food was mostly good except for the last night. Due to Covid they asked certain room numbers to eat later and there was very little left at the buffet and what was left didn’t look great. At meal times it is a bit hectic. I think staff should show people to a table and all tables should be set with cutlery available .
We spent time searching for a table that wasn’t occupied and sometimes forced to sit in smoking area and also waiting for cutlery or service was a pain.
If you like alcoholic drinks be prepared to suffer a little. Spirits are weak so they put more in so cocktails taste a bit weird. Plenty of beer and wine on tap and that’s not bad.
We are independent travellers so we had a car, parking was dismal. Everyday we would arrive back and there would be no space. Attendants acted as if that was our fault!!
Controversially i disagree about the staff at this hotel. I found some on reception to be dismissive and not welcoming at all. In the service areas some waiting staff were ok but nothing memorable. There was a young girl at the bar which I will mention. I didn’t get her name but she was really lovey and helpful, she also worked at the fish restaurant.
The al a carte restaurants were not open and happened at the beach bar which was nice but the menu was more table d’hote there was limited choice.
The beach is nice but not powdered sand as someone mentioned, lots of shingles whilst getting in. No sand dunes insight either.
I would say the hotel was about 70% full which is good but I would have hated to be there when it was full.
My 60 year old mum unfortunately broke her ankle a week prior to our holiday and so she was hobbling around. The staff could not of been any more attentive and helpful to her.
The rooms are spacious, modern, clean and well equipped. The food was to a very high standard infact one of the best all inclusive hotels we have stayed at.
We particularly enjoyed visiting the ala carte beach bar at lunch time which had fantastic views of the beach and a great menu of pizza's, burgers, salads, pasta, chips etc.
The entertainment was ok and the girls particularly enjoyed the pool parties over at the Melas holiday village.
The on site aqua park was a little tame for teenagers I felt but we still all enjoyed a few short visits.
The location of the hotel was excellent and it is possible to walk the whole promenade next to the beach into Side old town which is beautiful and well worth a visit. It is about 30 minutes walk. But you can also take a bus or taxi from the front of the hotel along the main roads for about 6 euro.
As other people have mentioned in their reviews, the hotel is mainly German and has very little English visitors. This was not a problem at all, all the staff are very welcoming and actually love having English guests. The other guests were all polite and lovely and infact there are many different nationalities around the pool during the day. It did not alter our experience at all and actually we enjoyed this about the hotel. I'm sure over time more English people will choose to visit the Melas as it is a fabulous hotel and we would recommend it to anyone.
Thank you for a lovely family holiday Melas.
I'll tell you right away, we booked a holiday to Melas Holiday Village. But having arrived at the hotel already at 12 am, a nice girl at the reception offered us a room in the nearby Resort building, motivated by the fact that the villas have a heavy load of guests and many rooms are already "tired and shabby", and in the resort and renovation is fresh and calmer in general. We were wary of this, but because we were very tired of the road, we decided to accept it, and at any moment (if we don't like it) they will move us.
Well, when we got into the room, we immediately agreed to this Melas Resort building. Indeed, the room has fresh renovations, very decent good furniture, modern design of the toilet room with shower, everything fresh and clean, there is a balcony that opens as if to the patio with its cozy "anti-ruin" and towards the sea. It was almost always quiet, even the evening shows of the neighboring hotels did not interfere. In the corridor of the hull carpeting, which also contributes to silence )))
It's certainly harder to walk to the sea from this hull, but we weren't embarrassed by it. First we took the elevator down to the floor where breakfast, lunch and dinner were held, then we had to cross the pool area (where various concerts were held in the evening), and then another elevator with panoramic glass, you go outside and you are in the area where tortillas, ice cream, etc. are handed out, and then cross a small pedestrian road and end up on the beach. As such, this building does not have a walking area, but since it is the same network with Holiday Village, you can walk around their territory, which we did sometimes, as well as the water slides at these hotels are common, but we only went there a couple of times, we prefer to spend time at the sea rather than in the pools )))
These hotels have their own restaurants. I took it that the resort is slightly above the Holiday class and guests of the Resort can use Holiday's services (swimming in the pools, walking on the grounds, using the water slide) except for the restaurant. The opposite is not true. Those guests can only visit the spa (which is still charged) in this building and that's it. In Resort mainly German elderly couples rest, there are practically no Russians and have not been seen with small children either, but in Holiday Village mainly Russians with children.
Restaurant: every day there was themed cuisine - Asian, Mexican, Turkish, etc. There are always a lot of different salads, greens, fruit. Different meats. You could find your own dish for any stomach, but desserts are a separate story, you can't taste them all.
The beach area by the hotel is large, there are always seats, the entrance to the sea is comfortable, no stones were found. The stones, and the serious ones, were to the left of our calving. The sea temperature in early June is very comfortable!
Having the Promenade along the coast is a very significant plus! We went to the ancient ruins, which impressed us very much, because far away we did not want to go on excursions.
For a relaxing and comfortable stay, I recommend this Melas Resort, everything is on top! 👌👍
The elevators worked very badly, sometimes not at all, they were dirty and the workers used them too. So we had to run up and down the stairs. Sometimes the power went out, too.
You feel like you're in a hole when you're housed on the lower floors.
The room was not clean from the beginning, e.g. there was a small lizard carcass there, I then pushed it into the hallway, I thought maybe it would be put away there, but it lay there for 10 days, and while we were there, our rooms were cleaned, i.e. the crumbs were cleaned only in the middle of the room, and a wooden stick was pushed from our room to the entrance of the neighbors. Now that our balcony was facing a restaurant (so not the main paths), there was garbage under the balcony (packages, cups, etc.), even though workers were sitting there. But the worst part was that one day there was an old light bulb on our table (why don't I know, probably forgotten) and also broken glass lying on the table where my child painted. I thought it was a shell or something, picked it up and cut me. That's not how it should be!
The food is the same almost every day, yes, there are theme days and there are two tables with this theme dinner. The rest is the same, the soups are the same, only the names are different. But the most disgusting thing is the strawberries in dessert that start to mold. What was not eaten at dinner was on the table the next day, with some dishes it was clearly visible. The dishes, especially the glasses, are very dirty, you can immediately see that orange juice has been poured in before. They just rinse quickly under the tap. At the pool bar, the employee takes the first glass - dirty, the second is the same, he pours the fifth and it turns out to be dirty, but not as dirty as the 4 glasses in front of him. Not all staff were respectful of guests. They were annoyed, stressed and unkind.
The worst part is that they supposedly protect our Earth! This is an anecdote. They use paper straws in the resort and spa, but they use plastic straws in the Village. There are trash cans all over the site to separate the trash, the tourists do, and then a worker comes with a big black bag and pours the separated trash into the bag.
This is not a 5-star hotel, this is a close 3-star hotel.
I would demolish this hotel and build a new, more comfortable one, hire people to supervise the staff.
Good thing is that there is plenty of greenery and is well maintained, but unfortunately only where the tourists are.
I really want to say that this was our first holiday in a while due to Covid-19 and it really made up for it. The entertainment team at Melas are extremely friendly and always got us involved in activities, we have had such a laugh playing darts, air riffle and water polo (things I'd never do!). I would like to say a huge thank you to Ornella, Erzin and Ertan from the entertainment team, these guys really made our holiday one we won't ever forget!
The hotel is spotless and our room was cleaned to a high standard everyday. Only thing I would say is there are a lot of stairs in this hotel. Oh well got our steps in! There was a mini fridge in our room that was topped up daily with water, coke, beer and fanta.
Overall there isn't really anything I can say that wasn't great about this hotel, there is a shopping mall right outside the hotel and its literally a 5 minute drive to Side.
We enjoyed our holiday so much that we are planning to go back later this year!
Thank you Melas Resort Hotel for our amazing holiday, hope to return one day!
