My friend and I have just come back from a weeks stay here. We were not sure what to expect after reading the mixed bag of reviews so we arrived open minded. Despite a late night check in due to flight delay we were greeted with welcome cocktails and the bars were still open so we could grab some drinks and unwind. The food was lovely and fresh and it was a welcome change to have non processed meals. All the dining staff from the chefs to the waiters were polite and friendly. The drinks choices were a bit limited but for what we paid for all inclusive we were quite happy. Again all the bar staff were super friendly and chatty. The reception staff would always say hello when you walked past and would organise taxis and currency exchanges whenever we wanted, thank you Sonia and team. The entertainment team work very hard and again are friendly but will quite happily leave you be if you don't want to take part in any activities. The hotel was not very busy due to the time of year so we were the only English visitors for most of our week but all the other guests were friendly and polite. The hotel has a mini van that takes you down to the beach where the hotel has its own area with sunbeds, parasols and cold drinks, we took the van a couple of times then would walk there and back once we found out how close to the hotel it actually is. The hotel itself looks a bit tired in places but nothing a bit of cosmetic work (painting etc) wouldn't sort out. Our towels were changed daily and our room cleaned and restocked with water also daily. The only gripe I do have is the toilets by the dining room were constantly blocked and overflowing due to being broken but left open for people to use. For what we paid for our holiday we cannot complain at all. People need to remember that this is a country that has suffered immensely with a loss of tourist trade over the years and that has taken its toll.

This hotel is all about relaxation. There is a beautiful calm about the place, with lots of sitting areas in the gardens, round the pool and on the beach. The staff are friendly and happy to help with any request. I recommend the yoga, one of the best teachers I have ever had. There are classes twice a day. Food is great, varied and delicious. All buffet unless you pre book the a la carte where you sit just by the beach, its so pretty. There is a roof top bar to end the day, with live musicians and a well stocked bar. Rooms are spacious and everywhere is very very clean. Wifi is also good. I cannot recommend this resort enough, great place.

This is the worst hotel ever.. I wouldnt let my dog stay here. No places at the parking, rude reception staff, dirty reused towels, bedding discoloured and full of holes. Lifts never worked we were on the third floor. And the worst thing is to pay for the water even in all inclusive soft lol. And when we complained to the manager,we discovered that he were rudder than his staff. Bref we canceled our reservation

We went to Tunisia for the first time with family and friends not knowing what to expect. My review is based on the value for money that we paid for an all inclusive holiday. It is not luxury at all, but it was a family and friends holiday that will long live into the memories. 👍😁 All the staff and entertainment team are great. They put every effort into making your stay incredibly enjoyable. We visited the beach and although we were advised not to it was a pleasurable experience and walking was not an issue if you leave via the back gates by the pool. The beach does have a bit of rubbish on it which needs addressing. Value for money The food is good with a great selection and was different most nights with several items being served every night. Although my children didn’t venture or try much local dishes, but there is plenty to go around every day. Alcohol is not that strong. Beer (Lager) is the main choice as this is always cold and on tap all the time. The spirits are questionable, but fun to try cocktails that are different flavours and colours every time 😂. I would Recommend this holiday to any young family

As a family of 5 we have returned very happy with our holiday having booked at a low price In the height of the summer season we came with very low expectations. On arrival it was late and check in was a tad slow we checked into the room were given a large interconnecting room which was fully air conditioned. The hotel itself is a little dated and could do with updating but you can see as a whole the country has been hit hard by lack of tourism and funding coming in, for me the rooms were clean and functioning and that's all we look for really as we spend more time outside of the room anyway. The pool area is lively and there is always activities to keep both adults and children entertained. The kids mini club is ideal for children who like to have other activities to do and gives them opportunity to interact with other children. Food was OK, I'm fussy and found stuff to eat but it was repetitive, although being fussy I find this issue at every all inclusive I go to. We have enjoyed an array of cocktails included in the all inclusive and the kids loved the mocktails provided by the amazing waiter Ayoub, he was a great character and provided a service above and beyond to us. The waiter Undidi made our table up every meal and also went above and beyond for us every meal time and we can't thank them enough. If I can advise one thing it would be to avoid the hotel for eating on the weekends from.a Friday night to Sunday lunch as the dinner hall is carnage due to locals booking to stay for.the weekend. we found a couple of lovely establishments just outside that were cheap and provided lovely food. Entertainment was spot on Said and his team, Angela, Linko, Tef, Waidi and Dj Coco were some of the best entertainment we've ever encountered they came and spoke to us, had a laugh and generally made the overall stay for us. My daughters loved each and everyone of them and nothing was too much trouble. My daughter even has a reaction to something and Said went to the pharmacy in his own time to get her some cream. The only downfall for me was the arrogance of some of the guests in particular a French family who were rude obnoxious and self entitled, there abusive behaviour and heckling at the staff was uncalled for because they didn't like the rules put in place, meaning their precious daughter couldn't do.Karaoke, rather than speaking like grown ups they became aggressive and spent the rest of our holiday finding things to moan about and Heckling the staff. It is totally unacceptable these people are just trying to make a living if.you are expecting the ritz you will be disappointed. We however had a fab time :)

We booked this family holiday through Love Holidays. On arrival all looked good we were greeted with a welcome drink of a juice cocktail and a warm smile from Sonia the Receptionist. We were given the key to our room 306 a superior room to have 2 adults and 2 children. We initially dropped our bags and noticed the room was on the warm side and the Air Conditioning, seemed to be blowing out warm air. On inspection my wife pushed the button from heat to cool and received an electric shock. This was reported immediately to the front desk staff who insisted maintenance would look at it. A further 5 days would pass and 14 complaints relating to no air conditioning before we were eventually moved to room 235 the difference was staggering with finally some rest bite from the searing temperatures and air conditioning that worked. The staff can’t do enough for you. Waiters in particular Mario & Muhammed made a difficult holiday a bit more pleasant. The Bar staff - JD - tall bald barman is brilliant (tip him early & you will never want for anything). The omelette or egg chef - what a bloke he is. In a morning he will make omelettes, if you ask him nicely and interact ( a little Arabic phrase Salem or Shukran will help you go a long way, the animation team do lessons if you want to learn Arabic), he will cook you fried eggs. A 5 dinnar tip and I never queued for eggs ever, he spotted me cracked the eggs, popped them on a plate and called me forward (brilliant). On our final night the kids wanted an ice cream and they received a thimble size amount again more on that later. There were no plastic spoons to eat it with - I saw the egg chef and he went out the back to come back with 2 glasses, I politely smiled and said I wanted spoons he said “I know 1 minuet”. A few minutes later he came back with to glasses full of ice cream and two spoons - the kids faces lit up and others were clearly jealous (it’s who you know, not what you know). Sonia does a great job on the reception (although at times can seem disingenuous towards guests.. more on that later), she struggles with so many complaints from all guests not just the British at busy check- in or check-out times it’s clearly a struggle. The other 3 who work on the desk are hopeless and this needs to be addressed. The Animation team - Said, Tef, Angela, Coco & in particular Linko are amazing they do so much work and really go out of there way to make the holiday special. Linko is a talented man and his art skills are spectacular, we won a henna tattoo and he sat and designed it and did the tattoo for over an hour on my wife’s hand which lasted the entire 2 week holiday. Please, please, please if you do go to the hotel take part in the games, Darts, Aqua Gym, Mini Golf in the pool, Water Polo. The evening entertainment you can buy bingo tickets (we won once 40 dinnar) and tombola tickets are both very cheap, but this is where they make the extra money (tombola is life). The teams constant games and different entertainment on a night e.g. Mr & Mrs or Mr Hammermet Gardens (I came 3rd) made our holiday and gave us some joy in what was a difficult holiday. Where to start… so as I’ve said my wife was electrocuted, no air con for 5 days. The rooms are poorly maintained, baths are a slip hazard and often a sewerage type smell comes through the shower head which often had poor water pressure. You either got an amazing shower or no water. Limescale and grime build up are common place. The cleaners try their best with little equipment. The towels are changed daily and water is given for each room. The food - this is the biggest issue the hotel has. You won’t starve but the repetitive nature becomes a chore. The food is switched out from Thursday - Sunday as this is when special offers for local Tunisians and Algerian, tourists who come to Hammermet throughout July and August. The standard goes from Curried chicken and undercooked pizza from Thursday - Sunday to Kebabs and Burgers Monday - Wednesday. There is a real issue with local tourists who come to the hotel for an all inclusive weekend for 190 dinnar (£50) for 2 adults and 2 kids free. The lines are very long 20 mins for a pizza and often lots of arguments with queue jumping and pushing and shoving. The culture is quite different and a meze style meal with lots of plates on the table for the family is common place, this often leads to a lot of waste and anger as other can’t get any food. One of the waiters told us a table of 6 used 58 plates for an evening meal - simply bonkers when they don’t have enough staff to manage the numbers. On our first Sunday we arrived for evening meal 30 minutes after the start of dinner and we were unable to be seated anywhere inside or outside and had to wait a further 40 minutes to be seated. There were 650 guests eating at the same time chaos is all I can describe this as. For our second week we ate out from Thursday - Sunday with lots of local restaurants able to accommodate and with very little cost (£25 to feed a family of 4 with 2 soft drinks is great value). As you may have read in another review Security we’re called to the “snack” hut. This was me, my daughter was at the front of the queue for a pancake as soon as the pancakes came out she was pushed over by adults who took 5-6 pancakes at a time leaving none left in the queue. Obviously this escalated tensions and I’m sad to say - the red mist descended that maid me furious. You don’t expect to go on holiday and loose it but the total disrespect and unpleasantness just put us off completely. The À la carte restaurant is not open and when asked we were told there was not enough interest to open it. I spoke to every British family and most of the French and German who were just as annoyed that this wasn’t open. Snacks are none existent you can get a local fried donut or pancakes at 15:00-16:00 that’s it. The drinks are watered down soft drinks in very small glasses or plastic cups. The drinks machine in the restaurant is often broken and the juice machine gives you a diluted orange type orange juice. No alcoholic cocktails are available at all unless you pay 10 dinnar for a mojito. Local Lager is on tap but you would need 5 to make a pint. The local wine is horrid as is the Algerian vodka. The hotel lists 4 bars as does Love Holidays this is simply not true there are 2 bars one inside near to reception and 1 bar outside next to the pool and entertainment pool. There are 3 pools a tiny pool for kids right next to the main pool which is ok and is cleaned regularly . The “slide” pool is overcrowded and has overgrown trees halfway down the yellow slide. The slides are working from 09:00-10:00 if you’re lucky. We were told the slide pool was the place that children would urinate in and had not been cleaned for 10 days it has an odd green colour to it. The beach is a 5 minuet ride in a camper van taxi the hotel puts on - the beach is covered in glass has holes everywhere and lots of rubbish, the water is clear and warm which is pleasant. The beach bar that is claimed by Love Holidays is half built and unavailable to use. The beach is not private and locals will come up to your sunbed and try to sell you chains and wristbands. It is clear that Tunisia has suffered with COVID and lack of tourism due to terrorism before that. They are trying to maintain a 60 year old hotel with very little money. The hotel is is desperate need of money to invest and bring it back to what 10 years ago may have been a great hotel. You know it’s a bad spot if when a local taxi driver give you a wince face when you say Hammermet Gardens. The internet is very poor and can only be accessed in the reception with 1mb download speed in a reception without air con. My wife left a review on here and once published the attitude of the reception and management team changed. Sonia personally had conversations with me and said as a bad review was left she would loose her job and that British people who make complaints like this will not be happy until her and her children are starving. I was shocked that she actually said this. The General Manager also stopped me whilst I was eating in the restaurant and starting talking about issues I had. The straw that broke the camels back was we were told our transfer bus would arrive at 14:45 so we waited outside the hotel on the side of the road as the buses can’t get into the hotel car park as cars park everywhere and block access. After 30 minutes waiting we complained to be reception team and asked them to call and find out where the bus was. The reception man called the local number and we were told 5 mins. A bud then arrived flashed its lights pulled in and drove off. I went back inside and complained again 5 minutes, 5 mini ears my friend. A further 45 minutes went by whilst we waited for a transfer bud like dogs on the side of the road in 37c heat. Thoroughly annoyed we boarded the bus and picked up another British couple from another hotel who were also worried the bus wasn’t coming, we got 20 minutes into the journey and we’re told we had to get off the bus as he had another pick up and could no longer take us to the airport. Kids in tears and tired, dehydrated I was assured another bus was on its way. 45 minutes went by and no bus arrived Love Holidays literally left 2 families stranded on the side of a main road 30 minutes away from the Airport. We eventually had no option but to flag down a taxi and pay to get to the Airport. Overall we met some great people and bonded over how bad the hotel was. We won’t be back you live and learn.

Friendly bar staff and reps. Kids had fun in the pools and entertainment was centred round the main pool/stage throughout the day. Didn’t use the spa but did get sun beds in the same prime spot every day. Resort is close to Jasmine Harbour which is beautiful and worth the 8 dinar cab fare. There was a service shuttling guests to a private section of the local beach which we did once too. We couldn’t complain for the money we paid. We had an adjoining room with plenty of space and a balcony. Special thanks to Sayeed, Tef and DJ Coco for looking after us.
