We ended up here as our booking at another resort didnt work out. We were brought here by a taxi. It was a tourist trap. On arrival we asked were the other guests were. Staff lied to us saying they were on excursion. It didnt feel right but we just wanted a bed after a long journey. The kids were tired. As we suspected, there were no other guests. We left in the morning. As for the resort: is nice but more tha a half hour drive from Kanchanaburi. You can only get away by taking an expensive resort taxi (600 bath). I wouldnt recommend it.

We stayed in river Kwai hotel for one night. Even though we were the only guests at the time we visited at the hotel the staffs were amazing with the services. They arrange the bamboo rafting for us though it was really late afternoon which was 250baht per person and had a great dinner the food was amazing! I had the best Tom yum soup there! And we planned to leave next morning at 7 and the staffs already made us breakfast, that early just for us. Even though they don't speak much English they were very hospitable during the short time we spend there. The room was huge and had two king bed though we were a couple! I must say this place will be perfect for a family vacation. Room tip: please close the balcony doors at night as its a jungle villa and there will be bugs coming in.

Good value (paid 1000 baht). Ideal for what we wanted - easy access to the river, reasonable nights sleep & food, reasonable price. Booked "Lake View Room" and got a room overlooking the pool. Large clean room, big windows, wardrobe, fridge, chairs. Booked non-smoking, but faint smell of smoke we only noticed in the morning, and an upturned (clean) ashtray. Air-con effective, cooled the room well, but noisy. Large bathroom. Shower ok (temperature range & pressure). Resort music (loudest near the pool) was turned off at 9pm, and on 8:15am. Restaurant had a good range of Thai food and some western. Our evening meal (for two of us) came to 500baht. Beef in oyster sauce was very chewy, mostly fat, but sweet & sour chicken was good. Breakfast 6-10am included in room price, served (not buffet style). Ok for the price in that area. Scrambled egg was too sweet & bacon was 60% fat, but the fruit & toast were nice. Wifi in restaurant, not in room. Best to have own transport (car/kayak/boat) as its in a fairly remote area.

One of the worst hotels I have ever sayed in. It is 30 miles from the town and very isolated. No chance to enjoy the town or night life or restaurants etc. It was totally deserted when we arrived at 4.00 pm mid November. That was a bad sign. A small party of Russians turned up later on but that was it. The diner and breakfast was very poor quality. The bathroom had mould on some of the tiles and some were cracked. And there was only one tap at the sink! Was it hot or cold water? I never found out. And if all that was not bad enough they put on a "show" in the evening. Worse than any school production I have ever seen. And then they put on a disco in garden, right outside all the bedrooms, so no one got any sleep till 11.00 pm when they switched it off. Not a single guest danced. Had the phone in the room worked I would have rung reception and asked them to pack in the noise.

This is not near Kanchanaburi town, in fact its approx. 30mk out of town, so if you are looking to stay & walk around the town then this is not the place for you. Having said all that the rooms were very large with two large double beds in the room & it was adequately furnished. Because it is isolated we ate at the hotel & the evening meal was good, with a large selection of Thai & western dishes. The pool was large & after a long day in the sun was freshing to jump in. Plenty of other amenities were avaialbe but I did not use them as I was only here for a short time. The staff were very helpful & provided ideas of where to go & what to see.. This place is great if you want a relaxing break away from all the hustle & bustle but you need either your own transport or prepare to pay for taxis & wait a long time. Enjoyed my stay & would consider it again if I wanted to be somewhere quite.
