I stayed two nights with my kids. Great value with the discounted price I got. Marble stairs, red carpet, Chinese style hotel (everything seemed well maintained). Beds were nice and comfortable. They have a recreation center (nice outdoor pool, ping pong and pool tables). These items were free for us. Not sure I would have gone had I paid their...

Wonderful staff and rooms. The view of Kaohsiung was great from the balcony since it sits on a hill and overlooks a park with a lake. The breakfast buffet was very good. The wedding banquet was wonderful. The pool is an Olympic 50 meter pool so I was in heaven since I swim laps. There is a pool table and...

This was a nostalgia trip because we lived nearby 22 years ago. The hotel is unchanged, clean with friendly staff. I was told that busines trade has dropped off because the commute to the city centre can take 30+ minutes at peak hour hour. The leisure club is still functioning. It has a magnificent pool and several tennis courts. The...

I have stayed here on the four occasions I have visited Kaohsiung and it hasn't changed. Old style grandeur with very basic accommodation - but it is clean and tidy and the staff are exceptionally friendly - I know Taiwanese in general are this way, but reception, restaurants, bar and service staff are very good. If you were not too...

Supposed built in 1957 and "moved" in 1971, the hotel was probably high end luxury in 1971, but looks like there have been no renovations since (aside from wifi). No way is this 4 star. Large rooms are the only saving grace. Mainland tourists were loud every night and front desk did nothing to quiet them, which did not help...

This hotel is an historic building that mimics its counterpart in Taipei. Built originally to house visiting dignitaries by the Chinese republic it was moved to its current location several years ago. Rooms are big, with two beds, air conditioning (necessary) and scrupulously clean. Wifi connection was rather dodgy but there is wifi in the lobbies. Stuffed pandas at the bottom...

Since we wanted to stay in an old Chinese palace style hotel, we really liked this place. The architecture of this building, with wood carvings all around the house, is absolutely amazing. The building is surrounded by a huge garden and also has a swimming pool. It is a 5-Star hotel, or at least it used to live up to...

The Grand Hotel is a good choice if you want to spend a night in a Chinese Palace style of hotel but it needs to be said that it cannot stand the competition with today’s modern four or five star hotels. Rooms are gigantic but showing signs of decay. Wi-Fi is available only in the lobby. There's a huge terrace...

This hotel lives up to its name! The only downside is that you are out of the centre and need transport to get about. However, the hotel itself is great, as is the service. The staff are very approachable and make you feel that they care about their visitors.

I can not explain how wonderful the staff is at this hotel. Every single staff member from the door man to the maid. Excellent atmosphere and immersion into Taiwan culture. It is an icon for Taiwan weddings, so you will see a lot of people come and go. Rooms either look over the city or the lake. Beautiful staircase and...

“Most rooms seemed fine. Ones facing the park may be less noisy. Mine did and it was very quiet so I can't say how noisy the ones on the other side were.”
