This place is not luxe but its clean. And the midges are an annoyance. But where this places excels is in the service levels. The owners couldn't be more helpful. They are your host, your cook (breakfast), your bike hire shop, your taxi (to/from dinner, to/from cycle points), your tour operator (booked hiking permits, train tickets)......Makes for a very simple...

The booking via email was very easy, Mr Su picked us up punctually from the Xincheng Taroko train station. He speaks very simple English so it helped that I had a Mandarin-speaking travel companion :) we rested the rest of the day away at his lovely quaint lodge, which is cosy and clean and surrounded by mountain views, farms and...

Taroko Lodge (or, alternately, 嵐天小築) is a convenient option for visitors who want to hike or bicycle Taiwan’s famed Taroko Gorge. The Su family has been welcoming guests for years, and provides a well-practiced experience that’s been described here by other visitors (whose testimonials provided us the briefing that Mr. Su did not). Our trip up the gorge and back...

Rihang was an amazing host and guide for our biking trip through Taroko Gorge. He was very responsive to the booking request and made for an extremely smooth trip. It was really the best way to experience the gorge, even though you have to be careful biking on a road without bike lanes. Definitely highly recommend to all adventurous travellers...

If you want 5 star accommodation this is not for you. It is clean and very comfortable but a bit old fashioned. It is not a hotel but a hostel. What it lacks in plastic newness it makes up for in other ways : the breakfast was superb. the bike riding down the gorge organized by Rihan was the highlight...

We picked this Taroko Lodge during our visit to Hualien, Taiwan. And we are definitely glad to make it our 4 nights stay - tucked away from the city noise and enjoy all the peace that we seek for. We did the Zhuilu Old Trail on the last day of 2016 and the weather was perfect. Rihang, the owner, who...

We stayed here for 3 nights. Rihang picked us up from the station and despite us getting on the wrong train and having mixed up the times he was still happy to pick us up with a very warm welcome. The Lodge is comfortable, clean towels every day, great breakfast prepared every morning by his wife on the porch. We...

We stayed 2 nights in Taroko Lodge and thoroughly recommend this experience. The Lodge is comfortable and Rihang and his family really welcomed us into their home. We biked and hiked and also hiked the Zhuilu trail. Both incredible experiences. We were picked up from Xincheng train station and dropped back there at the end of our trip. Breakfast was...

We turned up at Taroko Lodge, after reading that they offered cycling tour of Taroko Gorge (without prior arrangements). When we arrived, Mr Su. was super accommodating and happy to help despite our lack of planning. He was happy to show us all the best spots of the Taroko Gorge on the drive up in the morning, giving us the...
