The accommodation is very basic and a bit run down, but it is clean, well run, in a good location and good value for money in this area. So if you are after a budget option in Galle this is probably the place to stay.

Lovely location run by an older woman who has clearly been doing it for a long time. Nice rooms, especially the ones on the 2nd floor with the balcony. Common room on the corner with board games and darts, a fridge and tea, and plenty of places to sit and watch the world go by on the quiet streets below.... More

I really liked Beach Haven. As a female solo traveler I felt very safe. The location was very convenient. The room just matched my needs: simple but very clean and functional. I loved the balcony where I could read a book, and also look at the street activity. And being able to use the kitchen was a real +! I... More

Stayed here for 3 nights, after finding this listed in the Lonely Planet guide under Mrs ND Wijenayake's Guest House. This is a lovely place to stay, which is in a good location within the fort walls, and is run by the lovely (I assume) Mrs ND Wijenayake. She prefers to be called 'Grandma', and told us that she was... More

We stayed here for 3 nights (family room, 2 adults and 2 children) and really would recommend this place to everyone! We booked the room by telephone. This guesthouse is (one of) the oldest in Galle and has an ideal, very central location. Price/quality it's (especially for Galle standards) very good. It's also a place where you sense the real... Very strange when we arrived here as it's down very small back streets in the fort area and so the taxi driver we had couldn't find it. There are some one way streets too that's not good for driving to it. Finally found it and it's a little strange how you get to their reception, there aren't any signs. Next... More

Easy access from the bus station or railway station (1 km) The staff is very friendly as well as the owner. Clean and comfortable room. Very quiet despite the location on Lighthouse street. Good breakfast on terrace. Plenty if good restaurants around.

Superb location, in a cosy part of town, with lots of restaurants and shops nearby. The hotel is part of a beautifully restored historic building. The rooms are clean and neat, and spacious. Private bathroom inside the room. Beds are comfortable and large. Wifi is sometimes (during the morning and in the early evening) a little bit slow, but later... More

We got a double room here for about a week. The rooms were very clean and had warm showers too. The AC was great especially after a long day of exploring and kept you very cool at night. Good value for money too compared with the rest of the fort. We visited during the monsoon season, and there was heavy... More
