The hotel is situated in one of the main streets of the old fort and is easily accessible. It has been very tastefully refurbished and provides a quiet retreat if you need it. The set dinner menu is excellent Sri lankan cuisine and there are good choices for lunch. All the staff were courteous and spoke pretty fair English. We...

We were there for Christmas and rented the big suite. Nothing went wrong and we enjoyed every single minute of our stay! The location is perfect to visit the city and you can feel the past atmosphere everywhere. The restaurant is very nice, pool is kids friendly and if you can afford to take the suite it will be a...

Galle Fort Hotel is a beautifully restored Dutch colonial mansion in the centre of Galle Fort (but nevertheless an oasis of calm). We stayed 2 nights in the Porcelain Suite, which is on the same level as the swimming pool, with double doors opening out onto it and 2 benches and a sunlounger outside. The room is large, with a...

This place was fantastic. A real 'experience'. We stayed in a beatifully refurbished suite (a worth it treat) and it felt like stepping back into the days of the Dutch gem merchant, who orginally owned this place. The staff were great, as was the food - and its an incredibly romantic setting. Best place in Galle.

This hotel really gets it right. Galle is a lovely town - a must-see for a Sri Lanka trip, all faded glory and mixed cultures, in a pentagonal fortified peninsular when monitor lizards roam the streets and boys dive from cliffs. Take plenty of leisurely walks around town. Galle Fort Hotel then provdes a stylish oasis within this, without going...

We stayed at Galle Fort Hotel for 4 days in early January 2012 and enjoyed the experience immensely. We had a garden room on the ground floor at the end of the building. Nice and quiet, comfortable room. I thought the room rate was fair given it was peak holiday season. The staff here were terrific and looked after our...

We arrived for our three day stay with great expectations, and we weren't disappointed. We stayed in a ground floor room in this old Dutch colonial building. Our room was air conditioned with separate shower room and loo. The bedroom was adequate for us. The best thing about this hotel is the staff. They are friendly and very approachable. We...

We stayed at the Galle Fort Hotel over the Christmas period and had a very pleasant stay. There was no obligation to join the Christmas Lunch/ Dinner which one finds at a lot of places over the holidays and the food, although slightly more expensive than the normal menu wasn't extortionately so. The rooms were clean and comfortable and yes...

I had a very old suite - huge rooms and high ceilings. Also depressingly dark and somewhat noisy as it faced the street. But the verandah is the reason to stay at the hotel. It was superb. Eat every meal there. I have only rave reviews for the staff, especially the laundry that was exceedingly helpful. the car service franchise,...

The Galle Fort hotel doesn't look like much from the street, but as soon as you go through the doors... This really is what a boutique hotel should be. Beautifully decorated with Sri Lankan antiques and art, lots of chairs and sofas to lounge on, a decent bar, and peace and quiet. As soon as you go through the main...
