The rooms in this hostel is disgusting. So dirty, and bugs are all over the bed! The air conditioners spew air that make it seem like the air filters haven’t been changed since they bought them. The bathroom is disgusting; I wore flip flops. The wall was peeling and there were holes in the wall. The property itself is nice with a gorgeous view, although it could use some upkeep.

I stayed at this hostel as part of an overnight school field trip for one of my children. I do not have a lot of recent experience with hostels, although I can say that this place was a pleasant surprise. For those interested in hostel accommodation, you cannot go wrong with this place. Everything was clean and safe.

You could be forgiven for thinking you had stumbled into the wrong place having booked hostel accommodation. Poriya Hostel offers a beautifully designed building maximising the view over the Kinneret. Floor to ceiling glass in the entrance and lounge area, gives one the feeling that one is up in the clouds, overlooking the beauitful landscape. The staff and level of organisation was exceptional, and the diningroom was spotless. The quality of food on offer was excellent. This was definitely a highlight for us, and when we return one day, this will be on our itinerary.

Israeli youth hostels are far nicer than the name might suggest. Poriya has a stunning, modern curved lobby. Rooms are cleverly designed with numerous optional extra bunk beds that can accommodate families or groups of various sizes. Outside the rooms are balconies next to tree canopies, with striking views of the Kinneret in the distance. The site is a little out of the way, up a very curvy, hilly road, that can seem romantic or induce car-sickness, depending on the passengers. But it is quite convenient to Tiberias and to all locations in the Galilee and Golan. A full, delicious Israeli breakfast is served. In short: a great deal at a reasonable price, fine option for families or other travellers.

We had a family getaway (5 adults and 6 kids) over the last weekend. The Hostel is a great bang for your buck with clean rooms, good food and amazing views of the Kinneret. The staff was very helpful and friendly.
