Outstanding and exceptional experience. Lovely setting in a green valley - mountains around. Jordan river flows 100 meters from the hotel. The hotel consists of few buildings that makes an area of a lovely garden with lawn, trees and flowers - almost like a botanical garden. Everything is clean and neat. Lovely large rooms with all you need on a high standard. Great food , both breakfast and dinner with a very large variety (buffet). Pastoral specializes in performances, lectures, concerts and other cultural activities. Great and helpfull staff. I am a tour guide in Europe - I havn't seen many hotels like Pastoral. .

We had an extremely unpleasant experience at Kfar Blum this weekend. We drove 3 hours from Jerusalem to arrive at the hotel only to learn that without a Green Pass (proof of Corona vaccination) we would be unable to stay. My mother and sister had a Green Pass, but I've been unable to get one even though I've been vaccinated due to an administrative glitch in the Green Pass system. I understand the hotel's policy and they have not made the rules -- they are only enforcing the rules for the safety of the guests. We understood we had to leave and we did, however, there were SIGNIFICANT problems with the way the hotel handled this greatly disappointing experience. Problems included: 1. Absolutely nowhere on the English version of their website did they announce the Green Pass requirement. 2. The hotel called us on four separate occasions to confirm times for meals and other details, and during none of those calls did they mention the Green Pass requirement. 3. When we arrived at the hotel, the front desk clerk was incredibly unhelpful and unfriendly -- probably the rudest person in a customer service position I've ever spoken with. He showed no sense of hospitality, kindness or understanding. On top of his very dismissive attitude, he refused to speak to us in English although he clearly understood and spoke English. As English speakers, this made it very difficult to understand the situation. When I asked for assistance in canceling the reservation to avoid being charged because the website through which we had booked had a complicated set of choices, he didn't want to help. He said we had to take care of it ourselves. He wouldn't even listen to my questions. It was really unbelievable. In a nutshell, the hotel took no responsibility for their massive failings in this matter. They didn't communicate the requirements in advance and their lack of customer service was inexcusable. The only small part of this terrible time that wasn't absolutely awful were the two young men (staff of Kfar Blum we assume) who kindly tried to assist us with stepping through our options. Perhaps they work in the kitchen, perhaps they maintain the grounds, we are not sure, but no matter what they do officially, they showed heartfelt regret for our situation. When it was clear we had no other options but to drive back to Jerusalem, they went into the kitchen and made us a cup of coffee for the trip. It was a small gesture but it meant so much. The reception staff at Kfar Blum should take lessons from these decent young men. And, of course, the hotel should update the English website immediately to state the requirements as clearly as possible so no other travelers will go through this completely unnecessary experience.

Response from Galit Melamed, Owner at Pastoral Hotel - Kfar Blum

Thank you for your detailed feedback, it is invaluable to us and exactly the kind of feedback that allows us to improve on every level. Regrettably, your stay was booked for the very first day the hotel re-opened after a very long period of closure due to Covid-19 and local regulations. Once we had received the instructions and guidelines, we did immediately incorporated them on the website (in both languages), but soon learned that they were not placed in a prominent enough position. However, It should be noted that these instructions do appear in the booking confirmation sent out to each guest, regardless of the channel through which they made the booking - and this has been true from day one. And still, over time we have learned that despite all this, and regardless of the fact that it is the guest's responsibility to keep up-to-date with current requirements regarding arrival at any hotel in Israel (as all hotels are required to adhere to the Green Label guidelines - green label for adults and Corona test for children aged 1-16), we must still take further steps to avoid the awful situation where guests are missing the required permits and are forced to return home. In recent weeks, we also incorporated the option of performing a paid corona test on site, for children aged 1 to 16, and we have established an additional system of updates and reminders of the procedures required prior to arrival at the hotel. In cases where there is telephone contact with the guest (whether it's through the guests initiative or ours) we take the opportunity to mention the issue then. However, regardless of all this, there is no justification for the insensitivity demonstrated by our staff upon your arrival, and we sincerely apologize for that, and although we are glad to hear that some of our staff responded more appropriately and sensitively, no amount of coffee can really sweeten such a disappointing experience. We will be happy if you contact us as soon as possible, so we'll be able to talk this over in person. Regards, Pastoral staff

Great location and facilities. We were three families with 9 kids. Two connected rooms per family which was very convenient. Price included breakfast and dinner. The buffet was "Corona time" so everyone had to wear masks and everything was served, but still the choices were nice. Rooms are comfortable and bathroom is spacious. Pool is huge with plenty of seating around. Also a kiosk to buy drinks/snacks. The Kfar Blum Kayak is a short walk away for a half-day activity. We will probably go back.

We got a great deal on a room, and when we got there found they had "upgraded" us from a regular to a "boutique" room. The room was great, the food was quite good, the grounds are beautiful, with an olive grove, huge shade trees and lawns, and an Olympic pool. Quiet, despite being off a highway. 15-20 minutes away from some of Israel's most beautiful trails, and close to the Golan heights. Covid-19 regulations are strictly enforced, and while it was unpleasant to be served at the buffet by a gloved and masked waiter (especially when going back for thirds) it was good to know that the "safety first" principle is followed. All in all, a wonderful stay. Looking forward to going back.

The hotel is in a quiet Kibbutz on the Jordan river. The boutique room we were given was clean spacious and very comfortable.. The aircodition was a little noisy and I think a ceiling fan would be a welcome improvement. The staff were friendly and the breakfast was great. The gardens are picturesque and well mantained. This is a great spacious complex. I look forward to returning.
