So when you pull into town, you see The SnowMansion right as you arrive. I thought I would be staying there when I booked a bed. I was wrong. There is a home back behind the SnowMansion where the bottom floor has been converted into two private apartments. Each has a sitting area, a private bathroom and a bedroom. It...

I've never stayed in a place like this before. Usually we end up paying 300 to 500 a night to go sking and lately I just find it ridiculous to pay these prices when we literally just use the room to sleep. PROS: no need to go down an elevator to enjoy a comfortable lobby.. Basically it's like staying at...

We brought our 3 young kids to the Taos Ski Valley to learn to ski for a week and stayed in the cozy town of Arroyo Seco. We had great weather and we were visiting during our winter break. There were many traditional happenings at the Pueblo village, including a bonfire on Christmas Eve you must attend if you are...

When we arrived on the afternoon of our wedding anniversary we were offered a private room for a very good rate. The man at the desk was very, very helpful with booking the room and offered several recommendations for the evening. He even helped with hiking options for the next morning. The room was spacious and very comfortable. The wifi...

If you are solo or traveling with friends, or even if a couple because they have private rooms, you seriously will do yourself a favor to check yourself in to the SnowMansion when visiting the Taos area. It's about 20 minutes out of Taos proper but situated in a wonderful small village which is its own entity and in which...

I've driven by dozens of times and since I had other reasons to be in Arroyo Seco, I decided to try the Snow Mansion. I'm a light sleeper so a private room seemed a better option than a cabin, which are really 4 little side-by-side sleep-capsules. The upstairs rooms were filled, and to be fair, I was warned that I...

WE reserved this hotel through Expedia. It was very difficult to locate due to ignorance of the front desk clerks. Other than that negative, it is a different kind of hotel. Close to the resort, easy to hitch hike up, comfortable, free breakfasts and healthy $5 dinners. Nice common area around a fireplace. Next door to a small grocery. I've stayed in many ski hostels, and this is more than adequate.

Ideal low cost accommodation for skiing Taos Valley. 200 yards from free shuttle 10-15 mins to mountain or an easy hitch ( locals are extremely friendly ) Breakfast included, a communal evening meal ($5-$15 donation), or use one of two kitchens.
