First have to say that pak Ali had to build everything on this very dry land. The main building is currently the biggest traditional structure in Sumba and is really beautiful. Just for this you can spend a lunch over there. The bungalows are nicely decorated and one can feel the detail oriented service. Then Ali is very nice talking... More

As soon,as we arrived we loved this place. Beautiful decorated cottages, ocean view pool and restaurant with excellent food. You can walk to the beach (30-40 minutes) or ask Ali the owner to give you a ride. He is helpful and knows a lot about the area. It's not cheap, it's a bit away from everything but definitely worth a... More

Wow! This place is magnificent! We got married here 4 years ago and went back for our anniversary for 3 nights. Sumba Nautil is a fantastic, magical and VERY ROMANTIC place! Mr Ali (the owner) is an excellent host and a permaculture enthusiast. Lots of the delicious food on your dinner plate will be from his organic garden. From the... More

Basically - if you want the full Sumba experience - support local. Stay in the nearby homestay around Kerewe. You'll be directly supporting a family and making a real connection. Because, the margin between isn't significant. Different travelers have different expectations. But the only edge this place offers is Air Conditioning - Sumba is beautiful so you'll be outdoors most... More

If you are looking for an authentic and respectful resort Nautil is the place. Ali the founder of the place was on the island for a long time and is clearly very integrated with the local population which takes an active part in making the hotel what is it is. The rooms are well built and comfortable, the service outstanding... More

I went here for pasola festival. Mr. Ali and all the staffs were very friendly and helpful. All the food that I ordered was very delicious. They served wine as well. Room was okay, and there were a lot of geckos surround the bungalows. The electricity went down for a couple of times and unfortunately they were not ready with... More

I was recommended this resort but it has some plus and minus points. When I was there it rained a lot so I was restricted to the room most of the time. Plusses- it is remote, no internet so for sure a relaxing place. The food is ok but pricy but taking into account where it is I suppose ok.... More

Looking for proper accommodation in Sumba can be quite challenging. Luckily we found this hotel and decided to stay for 1 week there. The place is clean and proper yet I would not categorize it as a resort. It certainly needs a better maintenance. However, the host and the employees are friendly and helpful so it compensates the lack of... More

The resort is excellent. The private bungalow villas are comfortable and modern with a nice ensuite, Tiled floors. King size bed with elegant mosquito net. Balcony with views of garden or sea and outdoor furniture. A/C, Fan, Fridge. A little lounge area to relax inside. I think for the price, you get more than you pay for. The resort has... More

Pak Ali, the owner is a french who has been in Sumba for 15 years. Speak good bahasa, and he's very nice. His place is a serene place to stay. The view is Marosi Beach, which you could take 30 minutes of walk to be to the beach. The room is spacey. We chose the sea view room, which was... More
