I spent two nights at Charlies in August 2015. Its a good idea to take some time in parapat, if you are not just interested in the mainly touristic point -samosir island- The owner Tongam, a famous batak-musician is a friendly guy who lives there with his family. The rooms are tidy and nice. You have a view above the...

Surprises me that Charlie is in Tripadvisor! The owner is musician and famous among Batak tribes in Indonesia, he made several music performances in overseas as well. Honestly for me, Charlie has a very good chance to reach to the top of the roof for its location and surroundings (walk distance to: see the enchanting Lake Toba that I love...

Second to worst place I've been in in SE Asia. (The worst being Bagoes in Parapat) Staff totally disinterested despite whole place being empty. Proves ridiculous for the level of hygiene and comfort at this place. The bathroom is disgusting and the bedsheets and carpet need burning. Don't stay here- their inflated prices reflect their laziness and greed, not a...

Perfect location, but there were bedbugs in my bed. When I went down to the lobby at night there was no one to be found and I waited there from 2 in the morning till 8am. Fortunately I at least got back my money. But no sleep after an already crazy travel there was a pretty horrible experience (not to...

I've heard that the owner is a former rockman. This is an explanation. Simply saying he does not care, he was burnt by rock-and-roll. Peace. High price, dirty rooms, poor service. Perfect location. Just "poor", always can be worse.

Even though we had a reservation, no one was there for check-in. Someone else showed us around in the empty building. We chose a room on the side of the market. After a little while we smelled that the room was used by the housecat as a toilet. We switched rooms and when we wanted to go to sleep (someone...

We arrived here in the evening missing the last fery to tuktuk. The property is conviniently located next to the pier where the feries leave to samosir. Payed 80k for a night, witch was bit steep compared to the prices on samosir during low season. Room was very basic and bathroom even more basic (No hot water) but bed was...

It is close to the Pier and the perfect place to stay if you want to go to Tuck Tuck in the next morning! The stay was one of the best during my time in Indonesia and all promises about Lake Toba were met right away on the first night. Hospitality and the sense for music. The rooms are very...
