Loved staying here in March. Just a little too far for a quick walk to Ubud, but not too bad. Clean rooms. Very helpful staff.

Loved this place, it is a personal, well thought out, accomadating place to stay. The rooms are great value for money and we did not mind the walk to town from the accomadation. We recommend eating at 'the cafe' and the cuban havana restaurant - amazing food. We found that the bugs at night were pretty full on so we...

I really enjoyed my stay in the tall house, "Tinggi". It felt a bit like being in a tree house! All of the staff are very warm, attentive and fun. And David, the owner, is just a bubbling well of good energy, information, recommendations and Balinese excitement. The village has the feel of a villa with other travelers to team...

This trip to Bali was a 30th birthday present to my daughter. We stayed for two weeks and made the Desa Sanctuary our base camp for the whole trip. It couldn't have been better. We didn't want to be right in the middle of Ubud with its crowds and nightlife noise, but we wanted to be able to get there...

I had been in Bali several years ago and returned this past year for a long needed rest. I stayed at the Desa Sanctuary ~ The Village in Ubud. It was such a perfect place for my second visit because I truly felt I was coming home when I arrived at The Village. The staff was wonderful, my place in...

I had the immense pleasure of staying at David and Brenda's Desa Sanctuary in Ubud over the New Years holidays. I found the accommodations to be beautifully designed and very authentic to Indonesia. The grounds are clean, safe, and intimate. The service was warm and friendly, and the staff eager to help in every way. New Year's eve was a...

Onother small hotel (5 rooms) that the owners are absent and let "things roll". Sometimes goes ok, others not so good. the hotel have a very small swiming pool and the rooms have downstairs a small kitchenet, a outside bathroom and a place to relax. The furniture is awfull and old (not antique). Upstairs is the room. Its big and...

As the owner of this property, I am saddened that you were unhappy with your stay. It's certainly not the usual review we get....we are highly complimented for keeping the traditional designs of Balinese homes instead of creating "concrete jungles". Our furnishings are new and made to look "antique", the bedding from a first rate established hotel supplier, and our...

The setting for the Sanctuary and the Sugar Shack where we stayed was just enough of an exotic locale that we felt like we were Balinese. Both locations are smack in the middle of village life with gorgeous vistas. I would highly suggest that if you are looking for a Holiday Inn these rooms are not it! What they are...

I stayed in Desa Sanctuary with my partner and we both thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and were happy to help us out with anything we needed. We were greeted with umbrellas (we went in rainy season) and a nice cup of tea and it just got better from there. The room we had...

Our group of four stayed at the Desa Sanctuary twice. We were in the Joglo Saraswati, which fit our family just fine. The setting here is beautiful, with a lush garden surrounding all the houses, and a great pool for cooling off after a hot day. The highlight at Desi, though, has to be the staff. Bali is famous for...

“For a short stay for 2 people Rumah Tinggi was lovely. It was a little elevated so quite private. For a longer stay, for 2 people, the bungalow below Rumah Tinggi was also looked very comfortable. For a group of people the big houses looked superb. However, all the 5 options were excellent. Personally I wouldn't choose a room/villa next to a swimming pool.”

“all are great, question of size. kampung does not have much outdoor space, it is fully enclosed whereas the other houses are open on the ground floor with bedroom enclosed upstairs. very charming arrangement to live with open walls.”
