We just returned from a wonderful stay at the Discovery Kartika Plaza Hotel in Bali. We are a family of five. We had to book two rooms and on arrival, they surprised us with the rooms next to each other. The hotel has excellent facilities, breakfast, location and is clean and tidy. Last chance we’re done

We decided to give Kartika one last chance as we’ve been returning guests for 23 years the hotel staff were lovely but the hotel itself is in need of repairs & updates the bathrooms are old & leaking the hairdryers have been there for years & don’t work the mattress was filthy 😱the towels were old & the food in the restaurant was below average , the only decent thing on the menu ( the club sandwich ) has been removed That’s it we’re done ,…

Great location & relaxing place.

We stayed for 7 nights in a pool view room on the ground floor which was great for us & had easy access to the pool and beach area. Our room & bathroom was very nice and clean & cleaned well by the staff, if we ever needed any extra things staff were happy to help. Spent our days relaxing by the pool & overlooking the ocean watching tides come & go. Very big pool & seperate kids pool & play area and equipment. Pool area was kept very clean & tidy and plenty of sun beds. Breakfast was included and there was a good choice of food, it did get a bit busy on a few of the mornings with the larger conference groups that were staying but this was managed well with plenty of staff and them cleaning up quickly. We attended the welcome cocktail party where they give out prizes and we won a theme dinner for 2 people, so we tended the seafood night which was very nice. We spent every evening at Tepan bar and watched the sunset which was a great view, they have 30% off cocktails which is not a huge amount especially when they add on 21% tax but we loved it, also they bring out a really nice nut mix after we headed out for dinner, lots of nice place to eat nearby. We had a stone massage in the Spa on our last day which was very nice & a great way to end our holiday. We can definitely recommend this hotel to people who are looking for a good quality hotel that is a little out of Kuta central but just a 15 to 20 mins walk into the Center with a lovely outlook over ocean. …

the misses and i went with the family. :) we all had separate rooms very close to each other. "as requested" the rooms were very clean and comfortable, showers were spot on and the views from the hotel room balcony was beautiful and peaceful. Massive pool right next to the beach which i loved! The hotel had plenty of options to eat in and a massive choice right outside the hotel (sports-bars, well-known restaurants, fresh seafood, deserts and heaps more). Friendly but serious security. felt safe* Room staff and management were quite funny and knew how to have a laugh when necessary. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL FOR COUPLES AND FAMILY.…

Wonderful stay at a lovely hotel

We stayed for 7 nights in a deluxe pool view room. The view from the balcony was amazing. Our entire stay was faultless. On arrival check in was easy and they had a room ready two hours before check in time which was nice. The room was spotless and of a good size with great views from the 4th floor balcony. There are two lifts so no need to climb lots of stairs. The buffet breakfast had everything you could want for breakfast including Asian and Indian food with also a good selection of western foods, loved the waffles! Coffee tasted good and I liked it that we could make our own cappuccinos. We tried all the hotels restaurants and they all were very good and well priced. The pool is huge and deep with a very good swim up bar, poolside service is quick and efficient. We changed our money at the hotel as it was almost the same price as at money changers outside. My husband used the gym every day and loved it, the equipment was varied and in excellent condition, the fish tanks were a great to look at while he worked out. The gardens are immaculate and a credit to the grounds men. We like watching the birds and the squirrels that live in the grounds.The security guys were very nice and helped get taxis for us when we needed them. All the staff our a huge asset to this hotel, everyone was so nice and greeted us with a hello how are you whenever we passed by. We have been travelling to Bali for over 10 years staying at many hotels, we usually stay at a different hotel each stay but we were so impressed with the Discovery Kartika Plaza that we have booked it again for next year!…

I have booked a Discovery Suite on the 4th floor. Is there one better located than the other? I don't want to be looking at the shopping mall.

Are there slippers, toothbrushes and hair conditioner provided in room? Thank you in advance for your help!

Yes, there were two pairs of slippers, two robes, soap, shampoo/conditioner, shower caps, cotton buds, hair dryer, bottled water etc. provided. I always take my own toothbrush on any trip but I found that the room was well stocked with the usual trimmings and replenished on a daily basis. it's a superb hotel and I hope you enjoy your vacation.

Is there a 'games area' for pool table, ping pong etc? Or activities around the pool? Wanting to know if there is enough to keep the teenagers occupied.

Hi Caroline We thought there was plenty to occupy just about any age. There is a pool table in the sunken bar along with a few table games from memory. There was ping pong, basket ball, tennis, well equiped gym, squash as well as a basket ball hoop in the pool itself which kept the teens happy for hours. The hotel provided inflatable hoops and pool 'spaghetti' as float aids or simply to relax in the pool while enjoying the sun. There should be plenty to keep the teens happy at the hotel and don't forget you have Water Bom Park just a couple of minutes walk from the hotel and there is a heap of fun for all in there. You should have a blast, we did, have fun and enjoy your vacation.

Is there a beach surfboard rental place near by and is this beach a good beach for beginner surfers?

Close to the hotel you have Kuta Beach there you have many surfschools. Also from the locals you can learn surfing.

Is this hotel in a good and safe location? Is there a night life around, shopping or anything to do around the hotel that suites individuals and families alike ?

It is located in a quieter part of Kuta right next door to Kartika Plaza shopping mall, walking distance to Water bomb park and Kuta art market. A relatively safe area and water front. Nice resort and good activities especially in the pool area
