The only good thing about the hotel is that it's near the Ghats and we can walk there early in the morning to see the sunrise and the food of the restaurant is good although the room is unpleasent. The reception clerks are more interested in getting money with the taxis rather then providing a good service. I paid 75... More

Pros: Great location on Assi Ghat, clean and tidy room. Cons: Breakfast not served in roof top restaurant but sort of in the basement with some flies, hot water not hot at night and no tea/coffee making facilities in the room. Also the room was very small and very hard bed and pillows. The room was quite dark with window... More

Great place to stay, the rooms are very unique, howeve the bathrooms could use a little updating. The staff were friendly. A little far from the attractions located further down the Ganges, however the hotel is worth a short rickshaw ride. A very enjoyable stay.

Loved the room and traditional decor. Good size. At one of the last ghats so a little farther from.the main ghats. But walkable. City shuts down at 10pm. Don't get lost or be out that late. No electricity and narrow ways with limited ricshaws. Can't walk by the ghats to get back in the dark. Had clothes washed by hotel... More

The location was great. The hotel was clean and comforting after the heat outside. The service was good. Well worth the money spent. Close by is Festive Villa restaurant owned by Ms Chunu Singh - a very friendly helpful lady who can speak in English. Her brother and nephew Ankit, were also very helpful. The experience was great although it... More

We stayed two nights at the hotel in a standard double room which had a view of the Ganges. Our room was smallish but clean and comfortable. The decor of the hotel was very nice. One drawback was the evening restraunt which was down stairs in a small stuffy room with no windows ,a bit like a dungeon,we were the only ones there... Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Palace on Ganges is a new, immaculately clean hotel with 22 rooms, each named for -- and said to be decorated in the style of -- a different region of India. Our rooms were good-sized and well appointed (cable TV sets, non-alcholic mini-bar, tables and chairs). The staff is friendly and attentive. Food is vegetarian and well prepared. The big advantage is Palce on Ganges's location. It is at Asi Ghat, And while it's "on the Ganges," a small road and a large where you can get the cab easily from just out of the hotel. Views of the Ganges from the balcony -- and rooms facing the river -- are far less good than those from, among others hotels. Disadvantages: not all rooms face the river. ... more   less
