Our room was dark, damp and smelly, simply not a place you want to stay for more than sleeping and a quick shower. It was so damp that the air-co send visible clouds into our room - not very nice. The restaurant was ok, but small and dark. They have a rooftop terrace, but for some reason it is only...

This hotel is clean, quiet and has comfortable rooms. The staff are very pleasant and helpful. It is located near Assi Ghat, which we liked as it was quiet and peaceful and there are good restaurants and cafes near by. It is a 20-30 min walk along the river to the main ghats or a short tuk-tuk ride. Overall, this...

This hotel is a total rip off. The rooms are bad, dirty and filthy. For this price, you will get a quality star hotel in the city. While checking in, they said breakfast will be served in the basement. To our astonishment, we were charged Rs. 850.00 for a mediocre spread without warning. The front office staff were out right...

Just stayed at the hotel not a very pleasent stay from 1611.2011-18.11.2011 2 nights, the room had no view right on a wall the towels were NOT clean neither were the sheets ! The blanket very oldfashioned suits guest houses not hotels that call themselves 3.5 * hotel. No television, not a big deal, but why put TV if it...

The only good thing about the hotel is that it's near the Ghats and we can walk there early in the morning to see the sunrise and the food of the restaurant is good although the room is unpleasent. The reception clerks are more interested in getting money with the taxis rather then providing a good service. I paid 75...

We were very happy with our 3 rooms for a 2 night family break after diwali. Our train arrived at crack of dawn but the hotel were v obliging and offered us a room earlier than check in time so that we could rest. We took it in turns to kip for a bit while rest of the party checked...

Pros: Great location on Assi Ghat, clean and tidy room. Cons: Breakfast not served in roof top restaurant but sort of in the basement with some flies, hot water not hot at night and no tea/coffee making facilities in the room. Also the room was very small and very hard bed and pillows. The room was quite dark with window...

Great place to stay, the rooms are very unique, howeve the bathrooms could use a little updating. The staff were friendly. A little far from the attractions located further down the Ganges, however the hotel is worth a short rickshaw ride. A very enjoyable stay.

Loved the room and traditional decor. Good size. At one of the last ghats so a little farther from.the main ghats. But walkable. City shuts down at 10pm. Don't get lost or be out that late. No electricity and narrow ways with limited ricshaws. Can't walk by the ghats to get back in the dark. Had clothes washed by hotel...

The location was great. The hotel was clean and comforting after the heat outside. The service was good. Well worth the money spent. Close by is Festive Villa restaurant owned by Ms Chunu Singh - a very friendly helpful lady who can speak in English. Her brother and nephew Ankit, were also very helpful. The experience was great although it...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Palace on Ganges is a new, immaculately clean hotel with 22 rooms, each named for -- and said to be decorated in the style of -- a different region of India. Our rooms were good-sized and well appointed (cable TV sets, non-alcholic mini-bar, tables and chairs). The staff is friendly and attentive. Food is vegetarian and well prepared. The big advantage is Palce on Ganges's location. It is at Asi Ghat, And while it's "on the Ganges," a small road and a large where you can get the cab easily from just out of the hotel. Views of the Ganges from the balcony -- and rooms facing the river -- are far less good than those from, among others hotels. Disadvantages: not all rooms face the river. ... more   less
