A ideal hotel to experience the charm and hospitality of a bygone era - a fort on the banks of the river Ganges with the atmosphere and history of a graceful past. All the rooms are tastefully appointed with modern amenities and the staff efficiently look after your needs. The menu is not elaborate but offers a unique blend of...

Hotel Ganges view is a lovely heritage hotel situated right on the banks of the river Ganges. It has a wonderful roof top terrace that has a relaxing cafe and a place to eat breakfast looking on to the river and life below. Varanasi is a very hectic place where you are hassled and jostled wherever you go. Obviously this...

I really loved this place. I managed to hurt my ankle while in Varanasi so spent much of my time unable to walk in the hotel, I was so glad we chose this place. Lots of lovely peaceful places to sit and watch the world below go by or gaze at the ganges. If you eat dinner at the hotel...

We definitely chose the wrong time to be in Varanasi (July 29th! Full monsoon period, try to avoid it if you can) BUT we picked a very good hotel, with by far the best position and view we could find. We had booked from home with a simple direct e-mail, they were quick and easy in replying, also picked us...

Excellent rooms, though service is poor for the price you pay. It is not possible to stay in the communal areas since the personnel is sleeping there at night, so after 22.30 everybody is removed from there. Since there's only wifi available downstairs, it's only possible to sit in front of the reception stools when you want to check your...

This is an amazing place to stay at when visiting Varanasi. It is full of details all over, and the first floor terrace is very relaxing. The hosts are very polite and the food is really good. Will definitely stay there next time I visit. :)

We stayed here for 4 nights, July 12-15, and loved each day. The home, which has been in the family for 100 years, is a beautiful, artful, multi-level gem. Assi Ghat is a quieter area. Much of what has been written I agree with. The Italian ambassador was staying for a couple nights and we enjoyed a fantastic dinner in...

Agreed -- it is not the Ritz, but it is far, far better in so many ways. It is India; it is Varanasi; it is absolutely authentic. The ghats and winding paths between them can be crazy, noisy, hot and overwhelming, and the Ganges View is a soothing antidote after a day outside. Although located on the steps of Assi Ghat,...

There are already a number of reviews here and I don't see the point of repeating in detail what others have already mentioned. So here is just a highlight of the main points - The Good points - 1. The havelli has a lot of character - it is an actual old home and the individually done up rooms, the...

A hotel full of character, a real Indian experience with terraces that overlook the Ganges and rooms off the air conditioned enclosed patios where you can escape the heat. I really enjoyed staying at this quieter ghat where you could either walk along the river enjoying the sights and activities along the way or take a boat ride along the...
