We stayed the last two days of our new years eve family vacation with the Kapurs and such a memorable stay it was. The small but cosy & clean rooms, homely food, surprisingly quite neighborhood yet so near from the main places of attractions and above all the hosts themselves made our Varanasi tour even better.

Aashray is a wonderful homestay in Varanasi! The rooms are really comfortable and spacious. Every day we stayed there, Mrs. Kapoor made really good local food for our breakfast and we enjoyed pleasant and informative conversations every morning. Mr. Kapoor is very proud of sharing his indian culture with us. We highly recommend staying in Aashray! The wifi doesn't work...

We stayed at the Aashray Homestay during Diwali festival. What a great and unforgettable experience : the whole Kapur family was so friendly and keen to share their traditions (rituals, food, etc.). Beside the wonderful hospitality, our room was comfortable and very well equipped. The balcony outside our room was very pleasant and came in handy to watch the fireworks...

We were staying with the Kapurs when the president announced the demise of 500 and 1000 rupee notes, it was a panicky time as we were on a tour and only in Varanassi for 2 days and had booked (through the Homestay) a tour guide and driver to enable us to make the most of our short stay in the...

We arrived late at Aashray as out flight was delayed from Delhi and our driver could not find the accomodation which is a private family house off a main road. Our driver (not arranged by Aashray),Khalid was a young amiable man but lacked experience. We would suggest that the name plate of "Aashray" be lit/displayed either on the gate or...

In Varanasi, the option of staying right on the Gangaji is off course a great one. But to experience traditional Banaras hospitality & cuisine the place to go is Aashraya. The three bedroom home of the Kapoors, right in the heart of Varanasi offers possibly the most delectable option. The cheer & warmth of the Kapoors blows away the travails...

Visited this place a couple of times this year, and was completely floored by how comfortable and well taken care of I was. This home stay in the heart of Varanasi is run by the charming Mr. and Mrs. Kapoor, who go to great lengths to make you feel at home. The home cooked (vegetarian) food is outstanding and a...

Varanasi and our stay at Aashray was one of the highlights of our trip. India Someday made the booking for my husband and I. Mr. and Mrs. Kapur were warm hosts who assisted us in every way we needed and provided us with insights into life in the area. But I still think the best part was Mrs. Kapur's cooking....

Our brief stay at Aashray (the name is well thought and both Kapur uncle and aunty justified the name) was excellent. The room we stayed is of international standard (it is at par with most of the european homestays we stayed). They were very helpful and kind. My wife fell sick, and they helped us finding doctor and even aunty...

As a solo female traveller, i was a bit sceptical in terms of accomodation in Varanasi. But all my fears vanished the moment i stepped in Aashray. The warmth ,hospitality and kindness of Mr and Mrs Kapur can't be expressed by mere words. This coupled with Mrs.Kapur's yummylicious breakfast made by 3 day stay in Varanasi a trip worth cherishing...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Aashray is in the heart of city, yet away from crowd. It's in a colony, but the main road linking the entire city is less than 100 meters away. Railway or bus station, temples, Ghats, shopping centers, mall, craft centers, restaurants, boats, hospitals and eatables, are all available within the radius of three kilometers of the house. Your Hosts: The Kapurs, are mixture of traditional and modern values. Mr Kapur, although a chartered accountant by profession is an avid reader of Hindi literature and devotes a lot of his time in keeping alive the beautiful culture of Varanasi. Mrs Kapur, with a graduation in Indian Classical music, is known more for her warmth and the magic she creates with the Indian veggies (you might almost forget your meats and fish for a while)! They have not forgotten their traditional customs and values but at the same time modern customs and values have been accepted whole-heartedly. Thanks to their interest in Yoga, history of India, local culture and traditions, they are able to share a lot and invite you to be a part of their lives for the moments that you are with them! ... more   less
