if you like something exceptional you should go. It´s a unique homestay nicely located outside Coonoor surrounded by tea plantations. Yes, the owners are a bit excentric and demanding, but that´s make it so interesting. They are very helpful and take care. Klaus - Berlin, Germany

The Tryst is an overpriced homestay in Coonoor, India. The owners are a pretentious Indian doctor and his British wife. They will chainsmoke in your presence without asking you if you mind, even at the dinner table. The room prices are exorbitant, especially for India, which is mostly dirt cheap and adequate. The doctor will tell you that dinner is...

I found The Tryst to be over-hyped. The owners are moody - sometimes very nice and sometimes quite rude. The rooms were basic and lacked basic amenities (such as mineral water, bathroom supplies, change of bedsheets, etc). The food was just about edible. I got served stale Sambar, burnt toast, watery eggs and instant coffee (instead of filter coffee). The...

The Tryst is located a few miles up in the hills away from the hustle and bustle of Coonoor in a nice position in the Carolina tea plantation and is well situated for walking and exploring the surrounding countryside. I was the only guest during my short stay and was immediately made to feel very welcome. The food was good...

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Tryst. There's no doubt that the owners are a bit eccentric - but that's what made it more interesting. The food was great and the guided walk through the tea estate was very educational. I would recommend The Tryst very highly.

Tryst is an awful place if you have kids. The couple who run it are very child-unfriendly and, indeed, hostile to them, because their house is filled with memorablia of the crockery-tinpot-organ kind. Since our travel agent hadn't told us about their hostility to kids, we had a difficult time and left after a day, much to the relief of...
