An amazing hotel, definitely shabby chic, but completely adorable. The staff made us feel so welcome, like old friends coming to visit - the food was excellent, plenty of gin (although a bit short on tonic...), hot water was fine and the opportunity to visit the local villagers and school was a real privilege. What they need is a woman's...

I stayed here for 31 Dec to 2 Jan 2017 with a group and we had the most amazing time, complete with a feast and crazy firework display on New Year's Eve. The heritage hotel/palace is beautiful and just like you remember from the film. The food was some of the best I had in Rajasthan (thanks to Nitin the...

Ok so when you turn up you're a little taken back by the surroundings and lack of furnishing but once you get to your room and talk with Nitin and the guys and! watch the movie while a gorgeous stallion watches you. It's a great feeling watching these amazing actors walk where you are and also for us to see...

I stayed 2 nights at the Ravla Khempur. It is a magical place. Set on the edge of the village in the desert, complete with his pedigree horses it is very unique. The rooms and beds were comfortable with day beds to lounge around on, hot water (non existent unfortunately), however this is completely overlooked by it's charm. One of...

I spent time here with my 82 year old father! The service, staff, food and atmosphere was exceptional. Village walk was really enlightening. Hosts were genuine and caring! Such heritage and history - would love to visit again. We came all the way from Australia and were not disappointed. Thankyou once again!!!!

I came here for lunch and a look around with a view to returning with my family. Delicious food, horses and a beautiful building. I hope to be back soon. The village itself is just outside the gates and people are very friendly and want to have their picture taken.

We visited here with 4 of our children. The hotel is wonderful. Lovely rooms, full of character and the building is charming. Really charming. It's sort of 'fading beauty', alongside the efforts being made to make the hotel the best it can be make the stay so special. The views around the building from the upper floors are great. It's...

It was a wonderful experience with great staff and a caring manager. Food was excellent and one could watch them cooking the food. I was also taken on a tour of the village which was an interesting experience. A lovely quiet place with a pool that has just been completed.

This is the Exotic Marigold Hotel and is as ramshackle as you might expect. However the rooms are large and atmospheric and the building full of character. A local small village can be visited. Few visitors in spite of its fame, which is a pity but adds to its attraction. Friendly, involved staff.

Absolutely loved staying here. It's in the outskirts of Udaipur about an hour away from the city but being in the country was fantastic after Mumbai. Such stunning scenery. The hotel is an aging beauty so full of charm and serenity complimented by wonderful staff especially the manager Nitin. Visiting the local village and staying in this wonderful place was...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Now reopened with Resaalaa Restaurant. Ravla Khempur used as The BestExotic Marigold Hotel,a british movie. The title ‘Ravla’ in Rajasthan refers to the home of a village chieftain”. In earlier days, the Ravla was the focal point of the entire village. Functions such as village welfare, collection of taxes, administration of law and order, and the initiation of festivals took place in the Ravla. Ravla Khempur exudes historical ambience and is graced with breathtaking surroundings. The lofty terraces, open courtyards, sprawling gardens, domes, arches and canopied balconies transport one back in time. Khempur village developed over the centuries to one side of the Ravla. It comprises a small, random and attractive cluster of typical rural dwellings and shops, and shaded squares where the villagers discuss the affairs of the world or share the local gossip. For the visitor, this is a side of India that has its own fascination; the cheerful welcome and natural hospitality of the village folk who ask nothing more than to enjoy a chat over a cup of tea. ... more   less
