The hotel is grand once you enter it but getting there may mean walking through a filthy road for a fair distance because cars have difficulty reaching the hotel. It is owned and managed by the Rampuria family who have been here for generations and converted it into a hotel. Unfortunately, hospitality was completely lacking. They didnt have our reservation...

Very nice building and large room. But in the room only two sockets at very unconvenient location. WiFi the slowest I ever faced only in public areas. Food very expensive. Breakfast no eggs. Room very cold. A/C can cool only. We asked for a heater and got one (than only one socket available). Shower very poor, meed to wait long...

Bhanwar Niwas was offered to us when the hotel where we had originally booked was full of a marriage party. We were a little sceptical because of the location of the place. An old haveli converted into a hotel where the owners themselves live on the upper floor. The only minus being the reachability of the place through winding lanes...

We were very excited to arrive at this beautiful haveli but were immediately disappointed by the lukewarm welcome. We were given a password for wifi but later found that this network had not been working for sometime. Our room was very large but both heaters were not working and this was the first hotel we have stayed in where there...

We were impressed with the room we were given at this hotel, it is in the old city of Bikaner which is a tuk tuk ride through narrow streets or a very intrepid driver to access the hotel. Our room was not set up for three guests but a bed was brought very quickly and made up for us. We...

Hidden in the bylanes, it turned out to be a great choice. Thanks to the staff and owner, we got guided by a rickshaw to the hotel as it would have been very difficult to reach on our own. Parked our SUV on the street with a watchman to look after it. Roamed around all of Bikaner in the same...

Also called as the Rampuria hotel by the locals this is a well-preserved haveli located within the old walled city. It quite close to the 2 temples within the city walls and a short walk to the railway station area where the market is located. Haveli itself is well-preserved. The living room and the reading room are preserved as is...

Stayed at the Bhanwar Niwas for one night as we explored the city. The room was huge, high ceilings, antique furniture and a large, comfortably firm bed. The location is great - nestled within the old city walls and a short stroll from the spice markets and large Jain temple. The rooms open out onto the picturesque courtyard which was...

The restored haveli is a national monument. The rooms are large, airy and very clean. Our ground floor room opened into a large courtyard that was peaceful and relaxing to sit in and enjoy a drink. The hotel staff were very courteous, the service was good and nothing was too much trouble. Ask to visit the roof of the hotel...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Situated inside the walled city of Bikaner is Bhanwar Niwas, the grandest of the famed havelis belonging to the Rampuria family. Bhanwar Niwas is a tribute and testimony to the skill and craftsmanship of the artisans of Bikaner. Completed in 1927 for Bhanwarlalji Rampuria, heir to a textile and real estate fortune, Bhanwar Niwas reflects the fashionable tastes of the 1920's, a taste for formal and well ordered luxury with modern conveniences of the time. The architecture of the haveli is a fascinating mix of Indian and European styles. On the ground floor are the public rooms including the Blue Drawing Room and the Little Drawing Room. For your palate we serve delectable vegetarian food in the magnificent Dining Hall. ... more   less
