I stayed here in Feb 2012 and I still dream about this place. It is by far the best place I stayed in while traveling through Varkala and highly recommend it anyone that is heading to Kerala. The bungalows are beautiful, situated within a garden oasis. There are also plenty of hammocks and lounge areas around the premise to chill...

Our family has stayed at Bohemian Masala three different times and each time was magical & beautiful. Bohemian Masala is tucked away in it's own beautiful garden, full of cashew trees, palms, flowers and vines. The "Bohemians" have created such a loving & comfortable environment (for all living creatures!) that it's inspiring to feel so relaxed and happy. The cabins...

This was our favourite place in all of Kerala. The beach huts are gorgeous and the central open garden was super relaxing. And don't forget the incredibly friendly Sunshine. If you're lucky you can even take her down to the beach. Unforgettable place, can't wait to go back.

It is the best decorated place on the cliff: very pretty mud huts for fair prices with a nice bohemian interior in 2 sizes: Cosmic (l) and Universe (xl). Great garden with lounge chairs and trees for shade, a super place to hide from the stir on the cliff. And nice facilities for yoga and ayurvedic treatments. But, there is...

This place is really a case of pro's and cons. However overall, I'd have to give it a rating of below average. The pro's - Very friendly and communicative staff, reasonable price. The cons - Noise, noise and noise. Our first night's sleep was cut short in the early hours of the morning by the construction/maintenance workers right outside our...

I Had dinner at the Bohemian Masala in Varkala with a friend. We both ordered fish dishes to be honest the food was awful. We also ordered minestrone soup which was unedible. Our food took 1 hour 15 mins to finally come. The cook was tipsy and the reception staff was having alchohol on the sly. Really overpriced and a...

When my daughter and i walked into Bohemian Masala looking for a place to stay, we just looked at each other and smiled. We wanted somewhere for a week to relax and the energy was perfect. The vibe in Varkala is hectic, but walk into Bohemian Masala and the feeling is one of calm and cool. Such a welcome find...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
It's another world, the Varkala beach resort. Built around the eco-concept, it borrows its architecture from the natural science of the tribals. The handmade cottages made with mud, clay and flowers ensure maximum natural energy air flow, translate that into cool even during summer. In the midst of a thick green cover, and a 5-minute walk from the cliffs and the beach, V Resorts Bohemian Masala stands apart from the other beach resorts in Varkala. The resort promising all the sensual pursuits of a traveller, such as traditional temples, beaches, an eclectic food scene, as well as Ayurvedic massages, is ideal for a peaceful, tranquil vacation. Lounge around in the hammocks in peace and quiet, sample the traditional Kerala fare, walk around its herb and spice garden, or just sit around and meet interesting travellers from across the world. Those times, when you do feel like a walk, step out and hit the beach, indulge in water sports, or try your skills at surfing. ... more   less
