We got persuaded by Abbas and Osaka to stay at the Jungle Inn as soon as we stepped of the bus. Unfortunately we went with them. The house is at the edge of the jungle and the view is quite nice. But our room didn't have the promised hot water, nor a decent amount of water coming out of the tap, nor a working toilet flush, nor any piece of furniture apart from a bed. And the 'chairs' on the balcony that in theory you could sit on to watch the wildlife are pretty rugged. Abbas is very friendly and helpful though. We had trouble sleeping because although it is supposed to be a quiet area we could hear the tv from our neighbour's house.

I met Abbas on the bus station and i am glad i let him convince me to stay in jungle inn cottage. It is a really nice place with cheap and clean rooms at the border of the park. Probably the best value for money in town. The park is literally in the backyard where it is possible to spot monkeys and wild boar. At night sometimes a black bear. Abbas is also a knowledgeable guide and will do everything to help you. Organising trips, making tea with fresh spices, bringing food in the evening and taking you around on short walks close to the guesthouse. The guesthouse is in a quiet neighbourhood away from the busy town center which is a short and nice walk away. The neighbourchildren are all very nice and might come around to play or help Abbas. From the upper rooms you have a beatiful view into the greenery of the park and its wonderful to sit in front of the room to see the sunset and hear the sounds of the jungle to come alive.

I was looking for a cheap, clean place to stay in Kumily and luckily got recommended to go to Jungle Inn Cottage. The place is just at the border of the Wildlife Sanctuary en on walking distance from the main bus station. Rooms are clean, there's a large bathroom and Jim and Haris are more than willing to help with anything. Actually, since I'm interested in cooking, Jim showed me how to make our diner and lateron we had dinner with the three of us on the balcony, looking at the wildlife sanctuary: wonderful! Don't let any food outside, cause the monkeys'll pick it up at night; this is how close you are to the wildlife. If you're looking for a cheap stay in a clean guesthouse with a warm welcome from your host, I'd highly recommend this place.

The Jungle inn is situated in a relatively quiet neighbourhood in Kumily, far away from the main streets but on the edge of the wildlife sanctuary. It is not close to the entrance, though but a rikshaw will take you there in no time and it is also a nice walk. Being so close to the forest you will definately see wild animals such as wild pigs (at night or in the evening), monkeys (they visit around the same time every day) and beautiful birds. It is absolutely lovely to listen to the sounds of the forest while sitting on the balcony in the evening. My room was clean, had nice furniture and a good size- everything was alright with the bathroom as well. Jim and Anzari take care of the place and they will also take good care of you. I got lots of help organizing tours in the wildlife sanctuary or recommentations for a good massage place. They also serve delicious keralan food, Anzari makes the best chappatis! The relaxed atmosphere and nice location made me stay longer than planned and this was actually the place with the best value for money for my whole four-weeks Kerala trip.

This place is literally on the tiger reserve boundary and I saw wildlife directly from my balcony. The land around still needs landscaping but the rooms are super clean and comfortable. Excellently prepared breakfast and evening meals. I suggest people take advantage of this place while it's still fairly cheap.
