We were lucky enough to have a three day stay on the houseboat, manned by Aravindh, Santhosh and Sreekumar, who were all brilliant. The length of the stay meant we had time to get away from the usual houseboat bustle and really relax, but we also walked in some of the villages and learned about rice farming, cashew trees, and...

We had about 23 hours on a traditional like rice boat built about 10 years ago as a specialist cruise boat. We were the only guests on the boat crewed by 3 people. It had only one bedroom for guests with air conditioning and en suit shower and toilet, a spectacular bed and a mosquito net for use at night....

Not sure if there is anything much to add to what has already been said. After visit over 20 countries in the last 8 years, this is one of those memories that will stay with my wife and I forever. The peaceful cruise, the wonderful bird life, the great food and the wonderful crew. I don't give five stars very...

We checked onto boat early afternoon complete with a couple bottles of wine and beer. (This was also a treat as Kerala is a dry state). Our cases were put into our bedrooms complete with mosquito nets, whilst we sat up front and sunned ourselves whilst admiring the views. We'd 3 crew to look after us - the chef served...

A beautifully restored rice boat converted into a houseboat. Very comfortable with excellent meals. Tranquil background of emerald green rice paddies and rural people washing in the rivers. complete relaxation

Checked onto our boat for the overnight cruise and met the 3 crew who were going to look after us. The cruise started onto the lake and instantly we relaxed. Traveling through the backwaters was so calm and peaceful with only the noise of the occasional bird. Lunch and dinner were pre set and Kerelan style cooked by the chef....

We spent a night onboard one of the houseboats and it was the highlight of our trip. From the moment we boarded we were completely looked after with every detail thought about and managed. The food cooked by Philip was delicious and plentiful, and the driver and navigator pointed out landmarks and were able to answer our questions along the...

As has been said by others, try to go for two nights so that you can really experience life on the backwaters. The boat was lovely and the air conditioning at night a real bonus. I've never been interested in birdwatching, but somehow I was fascinated! The food was amazing and kept on coming; the festival lunch on the second...

What a lovely 24 hours spent cruising local backwaters of Kerala. Boat was clean and had everything you need. Lovely air conditioning at night. Unfortunately no hot water for shower but hey showered later at next place. Food amazing and so much. The captain, first mate and cook were fantastic. Nothing could be faulted. Hint would be make sure you...

We really enjoyed the trip. There are many companies to choose from which offer two stories, enclosed viewing etc. Ours was open and lovely. The food and service were perfect. The evening falling with the birdsong and the fisherman. The night was really quiet and still. The stars wonderful. Next mornjng the cool early light was great. I would try...
