We stayed at Jean's Home for 9 days in April. Gundi truly goes out of her way to insure that guests have a great vacation. She gave us many recommendations for day tour boat operators and places to visit - and everything she suggested was worth visiting. Reviews from other guests of the house and rooms and her great breakfasts,...

Gundi who owns this place is so kind, helpful and informative. She knows everything there is to know about Galapagos and speaks English, Spanish and German which is really useful. We stayed in the four-bed bungalow which has a kitchen. It was a wonderful place to stay at on our last night in Galapagos. You take a river taxi from...

During our recent visit to the Galapagos we stayed three nights at Jean’s Home in Puerto Ayora. Jean’s Home is a Bed & Breakfast on the other site of the harbour of Puerto Ayora. There is no road to that part of the town so you have to take the water taxi for 60 cents a person. On the first...

We chose Jean's Home because of the positive reviews previous guests wrote and we can now add our own. We cannot find another word than "perfect" to describe our stay at Jean's Home! From the room, to the quiet surroundings, to the garden, to the amazing breakfasts and the water taxi rides to and from Puerto Ayora we were so...

We spent 5 nights at Jean's Home and absolutely loved it. The house is lovely, spacious, very comfortable and the grounds beautiful. Gundi (the owner/operator) is a warm, accommodating and generous host. For us, being a short water taxi ride from town was a bonus as we enjoyed the peacefulness and quiet of the patio and gardens. The wifi is...

This place has everything; great location, air conditioning, hot water, it is spotless. There is a sweet cat that lives there as well. The lady who runs the place (Gundi) could not be any kinder or more accomodating. She makes a wonderful breakfast every morning and there is a grill that guests can use. The wifi here was quits slow...

Jean's Home is truly a home away from home! Gundi makes everyone feel very welcome in everything that she does! It is a great place for a couple or for a family! The B&B is located on the other side of the bay from Puerto Ayora, which is good but it does involve the small expense of the water taxis...

We just returned from a five night stay with Gundi. There’s no need to repeat what the previous posters have said concerning their stays. Gundi goes the extra mile in making certain that your stay is as perfect as possible. Take a few minutes to read the preceding reviews. Every poster has been spot on. Jean’s Home is the perfect...

Our host, Gundi, was great. She gave clear directions from the airport (which might have been a little bewildering otherwise, as we don't speak Spanish) and met us at the port to accompany us by water taxi to the accommodation. Gundi was born on the island (pop. 79 then; pop. 20,000 now) when it had no electricity or running water...

Have just arrived back from two weeks in the Galapagos where we stayed for 3 nights at Jeans Home. We found this to be a lovely quiet and relaxing place to stay. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Jean's Home is a small B&B located on a point called "Punta Estrada", on Santa Cruz, Galapagos Islands -----Brief History----- The original house was built by Jean Blaha, an American settler who arrived on the islands in the 70's. She decided to build her home with her own hands, patiently moving lava-rock by lava-rock. In the 90's Jean passed away without completely finishing the construction. She left the house to her friend and current owner Gundi Schreyer, who decided to call it "Jean's Home" in memory and honor of Jean. -----Accommodations:----- The main house consists out of three rooms and a kitchen-living-room area. The kitchen is there for the guests to use and is fully equipped with refrigerator, electric stove, microwave, coffee-machine, pots and pans and everything needed. There is also a television in the living-room. There are three rooms connected directly to the main house. Each of the rooms has air-conditioning and a private bathroom with hot water. There are also two bungalows for up to three people, each with a private bathroom and a small kitchen (the bungalows do not have air-conditioning but several fans and big windows instead). The B&B is surrounded by a natural garden with mostly native and endemic plants. -----Location:----- Jean's Home is located on a point of the island at the end of "Academy Bay" and can be reached by water-taxi. These are available 24/7 and take only a few minutes to get to the point. The neighborhood is a very peaceful place, as there are no cars (only pedestrian pathways) and it is not located in the center of the town. There is a beautiful beach very close by and also a natural crack with cool brackish water where you can swim, only 15-20 minutes away from the B&B. We also have a few restaurants located directly on the point. ... more   less

“The main house is perfect for families. One bedroom has a kingsize bed, the other queen size and two single beds.”

“All you can hear is the sea and the birds in the morning. There are no roads but you can get a water taxi just buy waving your arm and be in the town in a few minutes. We stayed in the main building but you can request a private bungalow if you wish.”
of 5 bubbles COLINBRIONY, 8 Dec 2014 | Read review
“You can stay in a room in the main house or a self contained bungalow in the garden. We stayed in a room in the house and it was great, but you might have slightly more privacy in one of the self contained bugalows.”

“The rooms in the main house give you extra time with the hostess, Gundi, as she fixes breakfast for those staying in the main house. The bungalows are awesome as well”

“As we were the only guests at the time, Gundi gave us a walk-through of the other cottages. All of them looked like lovely accommodations. Note that there are no vehicles on the part of the island where the cottages are. If you want to go anywhere, you walk. If this is a problem for you, you should book something in town or in the highlands instead.”
