Our stay in Jeans Hotel was most pleasurable. It was a peaceful and relaxed home from home with the added value of a kind person taking very good care of us. It's also fun to take the little boat from the main port, which is really not trouble at all as they run all the time. A very good address...

Booked this accommodation after reading reviews here and it was truly excellent. Gundi is a host who goes the extra mile. She meets you in town, is an ex-quire, so can offer tuely excellent impartial information and advice. Here rooms are large, comfortable and homely, far removed from Puert Ayora which is a disappointment. the story of Jean's Home is...

I was so fortunate to have stayed at Jean's Home last July. I am sorry that it took me so long to write this review. Gundi is an amazing host and an amazing person. Having lived her whole life on the island, she has the most amazing stories. I believe that she said that she was one of the first...

Just got back from a 7 day land trip to Galapagos. This trip was 1 year in the planning and from our first email 7 months ago, Gundi has been an absolute star! She was endlessly informative and extremely patient with all our changes in plans. When we finally arrived for our last leg of the trip, she was there...

Jean's Home is an incredibly cosy guesthouse located just a 2 minute water taxi ride from the docks and city centre. The rooms are clean and spacious and the only sounds you will ever hear is from the many birds as no cars are permitted on this side of the town. However Jeans Home is much more than just a...

Outstanding stay. I knew that I had picked the right place when I communicated with Gundi. Very good communication. Gundi was there to pick us up when we arrived off the bus at the main dock in Puerto Ayora. She was a wonderful host and went out of her way to accommodate me and my girlfriend. The bungalow in the...

Gundi is unbelievably helpful in planning a stay in the Galápagos Islands. She has recommendations for things to do and tours to take on each of the islands. Jean's home is spotless and the rooms are very comfortable. Gundi cooks a large breakfast every day. The location is a 3 minute ferry ride to the center of town. We had...

My husband and I had the most wonderful experience at Jean's House last week. We are so pleased we selected this beautiful house to enjoy our Galapagos vacation. I have to say, I was a little unsure at staying at a b&b as I like my privacy when I am vacationing. But we felt truly comfortable from the moment we arrived at the dock. Gundi was waiting when we arrived and picked up as many suitcases as she could handle, and along we went. The water taxi only...

Upon my delayed arrival Puerto Ayora, Gundi was waiting for me at the dock like a long lost friend. A quick boat taxi ride and we disembarked near Jean's Home. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Jean's Home is a small B&B located on a point called "Punta Estrada", on Santa Cruz, Galapagos Islands -----Brief History----- The original house was built by Jean Blaha, an American settler who arrived on the islands in the 70's. She decided to build her home with her own hands, patiently moving lava-rock by lava-rock. In the 90's Jean passed away without completely finishing the construction. She left the house to her friend and current owner Gundi Schreyer, who decided to call it "Jean's Home" in memory and honor of Jean. -----Accommodations:----- The main house consists out of three rooms and a kitchen-living-room area. The kitchen is there for the guests to use and is fully equipped with refrigerator, electric stove, microwave, coffee-machine, pots and pans and everything needed. There is also a television in the living-room. There are three rooms connected directly to the main house. Each of the rooms has air-conditioning and a private bathroom with hot water. There are also two bungalows for up to three people, each with a private bathroom and a small kitchen (the bungalows do not have air-conditioning but several fans and big windows instead). The B&B is surrounded by a natural garden with mostly native and endemic plants. -----Location:----- Jean's Home is located on a point of the island at the end of "Academy Bay" and can be reached by water-taxi. These are available 24/7 and take only a few minutes to get to the point. The neighborhood is a very peaceful place, as there are no cars (only pedestrian pathways) and it is not located in the center of the town. There is a beautiful beach very close by and also a natural crack with cool brackish water where you can swim, only 15-20 minutes away from the B&B. We also have a few restaurants located directly on the point. ... more   less

“All you can hear is the sea and the birds in the morning. There are no roads but you can get a water taxi just buy waving your arm and be in the town in a few minutes. We stayed in the main building but you can request a private bungalow if you wish.”

“You can stay in a room in the main house or a self contained bungalow in the garden. We stayed in a room in the house and it was great, but you might have slightly more privacy in one of the self contained bugalows.”
