Hotel Bevanda is a beautiful place and the people very nice (except the waiters, more on that in restaurant review). It is only 10 rooms, so everyone gets to know you quickly. The view of the Adriatic is spectacular and the place is really clean. The rooms are spacious and the bathrooms are fabulous (except for the uncleaned mold in the shower). Big shower and huge therapy tub. It really is quite something. The pool is saltwater and there are stair leading to the sea from the pool if you are so inclined. Be careful, they are slippery at the bottom. Plenty of cabanas and lounge chairs with umbrellas. It is a private pool open to others for a fee, but there is more than enough room. I would not consider this a place to bring small children although there were some, including one in a diaper in the pool. Ewww. There is a nice cigar bar that is separate from the outdoor lounge and you are welcome to smoke in either place. The outdoor lounge is open to the sea. Good selection of Cuban cigars at a very reasonable price. Extensive and well priced liquor selection. It is connected to two other facilities where you occasionally find live music. The "beach" is I guess what you get in Opitija. Either a concrete slab or rocks. Not very appealing to me. As a guest, you are welcome to use it. Parking is a bit of a nightmare as it is right at the end of small road, surrounded by a marina and other restaurants. When you arrive, you need to go to the reception to have them unlock one of the smallish parking spaces for you. And there is no ramp for the luggage cart. Up the stairs your suitcases must go. Oh, and I hope Grandma can climb stairs because no wheelchair ramp. So, on to the issues. First, our room door would not lock from the inside. When told, the staff simply smiled and said it was okay, because nobody would come in. Really? Despite requests to have it fixed (we were there 3 nights), nothing happened. Did not encourage a feeling of safety. We were on the 2nd floor and the air conditioning in the 2nd floor lobby was inoperable. It was unbearably hot all the time. We went to put some items in the very small room safe and realized it was not bolted down! Again, when we told reception, we were told not to worry because nothing would happen. Mind you this safe was about 12x6x8 inches and would easily fit in a small carry-on or a large tote. And this is a luxury hotel? We ended up locking our belongings in suitcases. This was right after we read an article about a vacationing family whose safe was ripped from the wall and stolen in Italy. Want a iron in your room? Maybe yes and maybe no, because the room regulations strictly forbid it as well as any laundering of clothes in the room. Got to send your stuff to their laundry. And be prepared for your stuff to be very warmly dried and perhaps shrink a bit. We did manage to get an iron for a couple hours, but it was a huge commercial grade iron. Breakfast was included in our rate. It was ample, but not huge and there were usually more flies than guests having at the food. Thankfully, they had some covered dishes, but only for 2 or 3 items. The rest was completely open to the files. That was gross. Location is great, view amazing, rooms spacious, but they do not pay any attention to the details and that is a big problem for a "luxury hotel". I would be torn as to whether or not I would return.…
Despite the fact that our weather was awful - raining all the time - we loved this boutique hotel (I believe 10 rooms). Our suite was outstanding with a bathroom the same size as the spacious bedroom and a full patio that overlooks the ocean. Very personalized service - outstanding in all regards. Unfortunately we were unable to use the pool but it is in a marvelous setting with multiple seating options. We were able to enjoy a lovely dinner at their restaurant and cocktails in various lounges that make up the ground floor of the hotel.
Our stay at Bevanda far exceeded our expectations. It was a highlight of our honeymoon trip throughout Croatia. The room and view from the balcony were lovely. The food was outstanding, both the breakfast and dinner. We also had a great time at the Lido Beach VIP pool next door, which the hotel booked for us. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Parking was easier than expected, and we had a spot waiting for us in the marina lot next to the hotel.
Great hotel if you don’t like crowded big places. This is perfect place to spend some alone time with your partner. Restaurant is very good and staff is kind, food is OK, could be better for 5 star hotel. View from room is spectacular.
We stayed in Hotel Bevanda in Opatija from 27th Sept - 1st Oct for the 2nd leg of our honeymoon in Croatia. The location is stunning. Situated right on the sea front with amazing views of the sea and the mountains, it was worth staying there for the view alone! The room we stayed in was the James Joyce (room 7) which was a deluxe suite. It was really lovely. Spacious, very clean, modern, jacuzzi bath, huge shower, a lovely balcony with a sea view and a super king bed. We stayed during the summer-winter cross over so when we arrived the air con had been switched off in all the rooms and the heating was on! It was 26 degrees outside so it was pretty hot in the room. We got a fan from reception to get us through the first night but the second day that we were there we spoke to reception and they switched the air con back on again which made a big difference to our stay. The staff were all very friendly and as there were only 10 rooms there, they were also very attentive. Breakfast was included and was very good. A mixture of fresh fruit, cereals, cold meats, pastries, crepes, eggs (which could be ordered from a menu - incl omelettes) and fresh orange juice and other bottled juices. Next to the hotel are beach bar/restaurants and lots of deck chairs/parasols (there is a charge I think but we never saw anyone). There isn’t a beach as such but there are quite a few stairs which take you down to the sea. It’s frikkin freezing (20c to be exact) when we went but there are loads of fish and you soon adjust so it’s definitely worth taking goggles or a snorkel with you. There are plenty of places to eat and everywhere we went was lovely. Prices varied a lot but most 2 course meals for the two of us with drinks were around 400-500 approx £50-£60 so not cheap but definitely not mega pricey. If you want to avoid the hills associated with most walks in Croatia, we did a 10km walk along the sea front. It’s called Lungomare and it’s a coastal walk which is 12km end to end. We did about half of it and could have done more... the views are stunning and there are restaurants to stop off along the way and taxi boats dotted along the route in case you don’t want to walk back. Overall, would definitely recommend the Hotel Bevanda and Opatija for a relaxed holiday.…
