We visited the Hotel Visus for three nights as we had planned to visit the Zona Cafetera during our honeymoon. It had been selected and booked by the travel agency that we had chosen. What a disappointment ! Given the pictures we expected quite a few days of cocooning and a great hotel to relax after our days of hiking in the wonderful region. Let's say that we were not at all pleased with the hotel... So why is that ? The Visus claims to be a luxury boutique hotel. Well being "boutique" is certainly not something that you can just claim because you have less than 10 rooms. You need details, attention from the staff and top service, and unfortunately, the Visus offers neither. So the property sure looks nice on the first visit, but you can quickly notice small details that show how cheap the hotel is, and how poorly it is managed. A few examples : - rooms may be decorated by a designer, but they have some Ikea (!!) furnitures (bedside tables and TV table) - not so boutique... - the beds are 2m wide, which is large, unfortunately they do not have the matching fitted sheets, so they put three different sheets to cover the mattress, which is both uncomfortable (esp. where the sheets overlap), and not very clean as if you move during your sleep you are sure to wake up with part of the body directly on the mattress. Besides, one of those sheets was full of holes - in the (small) bathroom, the door from the shower does not close, and the tap is fixed so close to the sink that you end up putting water everywhere every time you wash your hands (rather stupid design) - overall, the property seems in rather poor condition for a recent so-called boutique hotel : furnitures in the patio have holes, our bath mat was completely threadbare, the room to the sauna does not close (so good luck trying to heat up the sauna), etc. Then the service is purely sub-level. We arrived one evening and did not have hot water. Next morning, after letting the water run for 5 full minutes I call the reception where I am told that the problem is known and should be fixed during the day (I would have appreciated that they told us about it when we arrived, but I guess they had moreimportant things to do, given that there were at the time no other guests...). So we take a quick cold shower and set off for our day of hiking near Cocora (gorgeous, by the way). When we get back to the hotel in the evening, there was still no hot water ! In a so-called "luxury" hotel ! But the worst was yet to come. As I go to the front desk to complain about it (we were cold, muddy from our day of hiking and definitely not wanting to take another cold shower), I am casually told by the manager (who looked as if he couldn't care less) that it doesn't work and that I can simply go "wash myself in the jaccuzzi" ! And I thought you were usually supposed to shower BEFORE entering a jaccuzzi, for hygienic reasons...I'm sure the other guests of the hotel would have appreciated ! Such an answer is completely unacceptable. Needless to say, no excuses were brought forward and no compensation was offered. When I asked the manager on the checkout for a discount (hoping at least that they would offer one of the rounds of drinks that we had taken), he pretended not to understand (I tried in my limited Spanish and in English). I have other anecdotes and could go on, so I will just summarize by saying that this hotel lacks a proper sense of service, is completely soulless (located in a private residence with big houses and private guards everywhere, so good luck tring to wander around the hotel), and is full of imperfections showing that it is purely and simply not managed.…
