Casa El Carretero is the perfect place to stay while visiting Cartagena. Located just outside the walled old city, its location allows you to be steps away from the tourist attraction of the Old City, but in the heart of the up-and-coming neighborhood of Getsamani. Maria, the house cook and housekeeper, makes you feel welcome and is extremely helpful. I...

This is oursecond time i Casa El Carretero ad it continues to amaze us. We visited the lace back in 2006 and we then went back in this October. The place continues to amaze us. It is located in one of the most beutifull neighborhoods of Cartagena (Getsemaní) and a it is close to restauratas, lovely bars and taverns. Every...

Casa El Carretero is a lovely small boutique hotel in the Getsamani neighborhood in Cartagena. The hotel itself is immaculate -- wonderfully furnished, great breakfast, relaxing rooftop pool (small), and very friendly staff (if you spoke Spanish). The neighborhood has some real life to it; you mix with the locals and the backpackers, just a short (albeit hot) walk from...

What a wonderful home from which to explore Catagena! Casa El Carretero only has three rooms and feels much more like a beautiful house that you are lucky enough to be part. Casa El Carretero is set in the more working class neighborhood of Getsemani in the old city of Cartagena, right off the sqaure Plaza de la Trinidad and...

It was wonderful after a hot day in Cartegena to return to the El Carretero, relax on the rooftop lounge with a swim and have a fabulous rainfall shower in the room. We thought the location was perfect - a short stroll to the walled city and kitty corner to the Plaza de la Trinidad square. There in the evening...

The experience in casa el carretero was great because it was like having your own villa in Cartagena. Although we only reserved two rooms the staff behaved like we were the only guests in the hotel. Every day we got served fresh breakfast and my wife even learned how to make arepas de huevo. The hotel chef gave us the...

it is a nice boutique hotel, with great decor, a relaxing pool area and good home-made breakfast. Internet was working good but it is located in one of the more dangerous neighbourhoods of Getsemani. It was nonetheless an experience going to the square just a block away from the hotel to see the locals hanging out at the plaza, and...

Casa El Carretero is located in one of the most historical neighborhoods of the city. In fact, it is the most authentic neighborhood of all the colonial neighborhoods in Cartagena because it still has locals living in it. The neighborhood is very safe and in the seven years that we have been operating as a business we have never had...

The house was very nicely redone and the staff is beyond helpful - the house is located only steps from the Plaza de la Trinidad, where locals and visitors alike gather in the evening for a little music and dance. Awesome little swimming pool on the rooftop too! I had an excellent stay in Cartagena.

We went to Cartagena on our honeymoon and stayed at Casa El Carretero. We LOVED it! IT was perfect. The hotel was clean, and comfortable. Luis and Maria took excellent care of us. We speak fluent Spanish so that was not a problem. I know they had a couple that didn't speak spanish while we were there and they used...

I rented the entire house for my family and we had a great time. We typically stay in the Centro and this was the first time we were staying in Getsemani. Great experience. I was raised in Cartagena, back when you would not go into Getsemani. I was pleasantly surprised to see the changes in Getsemani. Casa El Carretero is...
