I'll start by clarifying that we didn't stay at this hotel but had access to a few rooms and spent time here for a wedding ceremony and reception. We stayed at another hotel a few blocks away that was nice as well. The rooms were very nice, good size and the A/C was great. This really is a beautiful hotel... More

A lovely, historic old home with traditional courtyard and lots of beautiful touches. Perfect place to unwind for the weekend, enjoy the comfortable rooms and soak in the history. One of the best hotels I've stayed in this year. Will be back soon.

I was in Cartagena again this week.. I usually stay at Casa Pestagua or The Santa Theresa.. both were sold out for weddings this weekend. The El Marques was arranged for my Casa Pestagua staff.. the El Marques is a centuries old House, like Casa Pestagua that used to own the whole block it this neighborhood of the old Cartagena... Stayed 5 nights Good and well equipped room. The staff is very nice helpful but seems inexperienced as mixed many of our breakfast orders and made some basic mistakes - no daily water reposition, let the toilet paper finish. The restaurant seems to be great and is always full but it means that guest loose some privacy, especially while at... More

This hotel could be one of the best in the city. But it isn't. The setting in an old colonial house in a great location in Cartagena should be priceless, but it's not. I recently stayed with a friend for 5 nights and we were not pleased. This is a very small hotel with only 9 rooms (which is a... More

This lovely hotel is spectacular in so many ways. The 17th century Colonial-style building is filled with that Old Cartagena historic charm. It has a lovely patio with swimming pool and a very special wine room. (try to have dinner there). Each guest room is unique: elegant, comfortable and with a great bathroom (spacious, clean and modern). The courtyard is... More

Another long over due review. We stayed here 3 nights back in January. As soon as you enter through the un-assuing front door, you're transported into a very special place. The entire hotel is just so well done, and beautiful. Exactly what you want when you're on holiday. The outdoor courtyard is beautiful, the rooms are great and the pool... More

My wife and I spent 3 nights here mid-week in early March. It blew us away! We had the place to ourselves and felt spoilt by the staff. The pool gets great direct sun until around 3:30pm, allowing for great, lazy morning tanning (always accompanied by ice cold fresh fruit)! Breakfast, lunch and dinner at the unique restaurant are superb... More

Stayed here on my second visit to Cartagena and I won't stay anywhere else for my future trips. Gorgeous hotel, delicious food and very attentive/helpful staff. The hotel is small and intimate and feels special. Perfect location right off of Plaza Santo Domingo. Can't wait to go back.

We stayed at El Marques for four nights and loved every minute. The hotel staff was helpful, the restaurant - Bohemia - served a tasty breakfast each morning and the rooms were plenty big enough and had good AC. The pool area is a tranquil, quiet spot to relax and we both had massages in the Petite Spa. Overall the... More
