This hotel looks promising from the outside until you step into the smoky reception area. In fact smoke permeates the whole hotel including all the rooms. There's hardly any ventilation and it just feels suffocating. The rooms are spacious but very dated and old looking. There was tea and coffee, the bathroom was fine and there was a TV though no western channels. The beds were quite comfortable. We didn't eat here although we did attempt to decipher the menu which had lots of photo's of lamb spine, donkey and other delicacies! My biggest bug bear were the receptionists. It wasn't that they didn't speak English, it was that they didn't use any common sense which everyone else did in China and use google translate to help them understand what we were saying. Trust me we did our best with our own translation books. They spent most of the time giggling at us when we were seriously trying to get some information from them. Then they would phone some random person for help and hand us the phone. Suffice to say we never got anywhere with this method. This happened every time we asked a question. Very irritating! This hotel has business people staying here so I would have thought they would have tried harder from a service point of view, but it was just a frustrating exercise when trying to engage in any conversation. To top if off there was no wifi in the room only in the lobby and even that didm't work. Again any attempt to tell them it didn't work ended up being a futile exercise.…
