If you are on your way to the Yungang Grottoes or the Hanging Temple at Hengshan mountain and you need to stay in Datong, than the Hongqi Grand Hotel is very convenient. It is next to the train station and max an hour drive to either the grottoes or Hengshan mountain. It is comfortable, clean, has a reasonable sized room...

Wasn't impressed with this Hotel. The only thing it has going for it is it's close proximity to the station, which also happens to be what it has going against it: The station is very noisy and the racket starts very early in the morning. I can still hear the sound of the automated loudspeaker message which just endlessly repeats...

This was the worse hotel we've stayed in, also the location was not great allthough on walking distance from the railwaystation which was convenient cause we arrived by train. The breakfast was okay, but still I wouldn't go there again.

Hotel is next door to the train station, very convenient. Room was clean and comfortable, we were happy with it. Staff was friendly, and let us store our luggage for the day. No frills but a good value.

We stayed 1 night at this hotel, in a Standard Room which included breakfast. The room was basic and clean, but carpet needs replacing. We didn’t smell any smoke in the room. We thought the hotel was good value at RMB240 per night for 2 people and the food for breakfast and dinner was very good. We took a late...

this is the kind of hotel I had expected in China, old, grey, falling apart and with no service to speak of but this was our last hotel in a 21 days trip and the first to be like that, so now I was not actually going to be just satisfied with this as I knew now that China had...

We were there only for one night and arrived in the early morning by the Beijing train: that is the best point for this hotel... it's situated right in front of the Datong Railway Station. The employee did not speak english. We had to ask a taxi searching for clients to translate for us. Check in was complicated and Check...

We stayed at this hotel as we needed to extend our visas but did not know at the time the renovations that were going on. They started drilling at 6.15 am and continued all day until 8 PM (or at least the parts we were in the hotel for). As we did not have our passports we could not change...

This was a good hotel. A bit on the expensive side for china but there didn't seem to be many good value ones in Datong. If your coming by train just walk out the station look north east and you should be staring at it. If your coming to Datong for the culture your most likely to be visiting the...

I stayed there from May 9 to May 12. The hotel is just 100 meters southeast of the railway station. I liked the hospital staff there. The room are cosy. And there is charged internet. I enjoyed the free breakfast particularly. You have a great deal of choices because there were various kinds of food, western and traditional Chinese food.
