Classic Faulty. This place has really gone down hill. I arrived about 10;30pm and nothing was open. The Chinese restaurant was advertised as open until 11;30, even on the lift I took to the second floor only to find it in darkness. I was told no room service was available. I asked for a non smoking room but was sent to a smoking room. When I asked about it they said non were available and they would find another in the morning. I said I would find another hotel and then they moved me. The room was dirty, no minibar and the toilet was so near the wash basin, you could not stand properly in front of the mirror. The lighting system is a joke, there is an electronic console to control the lights, only trouble when you wake up at night, you cant see it and by the time you get your mobile shining on the console and work out which light is which, you are fully awake. I asked for the ATM and there was no lights, I tried in vain to enter my pin without lights and I returned to the desk to ask for lights and then found out it would not accept international credit cards. On arrival, I was given a breakfast voucher for the first night, the second breakfast I could not enter as I did not have a voucher. I returned to the desk and was told that the second voucher had been delivered to my room. I said I never received it, (which I did not) but they did not believe me and then held a conference which I think included a conversation with the breakfast constabulary and eventually I was given a voucher. Not that it made much difference, the breakfast was shocking. This place is a dump and business travellers should not have to stay in places like it. I like the hard beds and I slept very well and the location was okay.

I stayed in this hotel in Oct 2007 for 4 nights, it was conference Hotel looks new and properly maintained; rooms are big, clean and along with all amenities, free wi-fi in rooms and lobby Excellent western restaurant and good quality food with a wide range of dishes, perfect for breakfast. Hotel also has Chinese, Korean and many other restaurants, serving great sea food, also have meeting rooms & conference rooms Room service is fast and staff is friendly, even a few can speak fluent English, but it works In the basement; there is a big KTV & massage parlor; providing excellent services. KTV offers a wide warily of companions. Basement also has a average size night club, OK for a couple of drinks and free time sitting, but the entrance is separate In front of this hotel, you may find two super stores, JUSCO & another, wao too big and too crowded, beware everything gona shut down at 10 PM, so can’t find anything in surrounding of hotel For day better go for beach, very near, around 2 Km away Overall its best hotel, well located, with perfect staff and services I recommend for all kind of travelers

I have stayed at Harvest for over 6 years and had affectionately named it Hardest Hotel because of the beds. In the last few months they have transformed the 10th floor with good soft but firm beds and on my recent stays the smokers have also not been on that floor. They must be getting the message and now it is acceptable to stay there, just make sure if you want a good bed to ask for10th floor

Stayed for 2 weeks. The hotel was probably once a great hotel - but that must be many years ago. The rooms are very worn, but have a ok size. New flat-screen TV - but off course only Chinese channels, except from CNN, BBC News and Discovery. Showers was only very hot or very cold, and several other customers complained about this. Did not get fixed. The air condition is old, worn, noisy and filters should be cleaned. There is internet through a LAN cable in the rooms. Internet is extremely slow and off course most western sites are blocked. No wireless internet. The bed was very very hard - like sleeping on concrete. The breakfast is a disaster if you desire western food. Terrible eggs & beacon and no bread spread. The Japanese fish restaurant in the hotel stinks like h... and thus the whole elevator and several floors also stink of fish. A really bad smell. The reception is big, grand, overstaffed and extremely ineffective. An extremely terrible music is played everywhere in the hotel. Really disturbing. The service is maybe the best thing with this hotel - night and day the staff try to comply with your needs. The hotel is actually not situated in Qingdao but in Huangdao ( a neighbor city approx 1 hour with car from Qingdao). The location is ok but very noisy due too the traffic if you like to keep your windows open. All in all a OK hotel for a short business stay - but next time another hotel will be preferred.
