It was by accident that I ended up staying here, but I am glad I did. The hotel is quite charming and the staff was very kind. The hotel was built in 1937, but the interior is very modern. On the down side: 1. the carpet in the main area/staircase is badly stained and really needs to be replaced. 2. guests are allowed to smoke in the rooms, so its possible you could get a room after someone who smoked. 3, My bathroom floor was dirty and was never cleaned before I left. Also, it appears they do not clean the showers when they replace the toiletries and towels. Up side: 1. Staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Wang speaks excellent English, but the other staff members speak limited English, though they are learning. The staff went above and beyond the call of duty and worked with me for over an hour one night to fix my wifi connection. 2. Hotel is in a great neighborhood that is quiet, Badaguan Scenic Area. 3. No problems in room. Everything worked well. 4. Room is spacious and tastefully decorated. 5, It is within walking distance, to many of the attractions. It is down the street from Bathing Beach No. 2; 10 minute walk to Bathing Beach No. 1 and 20 minutes to Small Qingdao Island and Little Fish Hill. 6. Close to the Central Business District where there are many banks. A couple of minor things, at least to me: 1. No elevator in the building and it is at least 3 floors. 2. No coffee and tea supplied in the rooms, bring your own. 3. Window was difficult to close, but it did lock and if the screen is place in front, no bugs will come in. I did have a couple of moths, but that was all. When I arrived the window was open and I did not notice it until late that evening when I noticed the moths. Fortunately, that was all I had. I hate bugs. 5. Bring conditioner. The hotel supplies shampoo, shower cap, soap, toothbrushes/paste, shower gel. 6. EARLY BIRD GETS THE HOT WATER. I got up too late on Sunday morning and had none. I boiled some and mixed it with cold water then poured it over me. It worked though it was an inconvenience. On a different note, if you are asked if you want a room with a single bed or a double bed, that means the room has 1 double or 2 double beds. I would recommend staying here. There is a restaurant at the hotel that serves lunch and dinner, but I did not eat in it. There are other restaurants nearby.…
