Most terrible hotel I’ve ever stayed in. I had booked a superior room with garden view. When I checked in I felt like they had downgraded me even though the receptionist claimed that this was a superior room. The room was completely covered with mildew in every corner and smelled damp. Making things worse the room was right next to the reception, the door was not at all soundproof so you could here every word that was spoken there, phone ringing, other guests walking through the hall etc etc. The window looked towards the entrance path where everyone had to pass by, making it impossible to sleep. When I requested another room they claimed they were fully booked. Both receptionists didn’t speak a word English, the woman was obviously fed up and not at all helpful. As it was already 10 pm I decided to stay the night there and move to another hotel the next day. I simply do not understand how you can offer that kind of a room to guests when it is completely mouldy and in need of renovation! Total rip off!

On the beach front with good views if you are lucky this quirky villa set in a residential area and not too easy to find and needs better management. The rooms were dusty, the bed linen felt damp and smelt of cigarette smoke. Although Villa inn supply free toiletries etc the drinks and nibbles are an cost extra. There is no choice for breakfast it just all arrives on one plate ...toasted tuna sandwich, coleslaw, 1 egg, 1 bacon, 1 chicken sausage, cold beans! Cleaned and managed better this could be a little gem but I will not be returning.

Apart from being right on the beach there is nothing spectacular about this place at all. Staff have no English and didn't even understand our attempt at Mandarin. We arrived late and had been upgraded and downgraded at the same time. One room was downgraded from a king to a very small double, which smelt mouldy. It did however have a lovely view of the sea. The second room had been upgraded from a king to a double Japanese room. However we booked the king bed as 2 friends sharing as there were no twin beds. The double 'futon' was very small and as you would expect hard wood type thin mattress. We did not sleep well at all. The sea view was only a view if you stuck your head out of the window. The room had not been cleaned the floor was filthy and had dirt patches and sticky patches. The spare quilts we used to try and make the bed comfy were also dirty. We asked for another mattress in the room so that it was more confortable. Then we had to ask again when we came back at the end of the day. The result was a single thin hard mattress on top of the double which made no difference to the comfort. So with a lot of hassle we were finally moved to the room we had booked the king with garden view which was lovely nice comfortable big bed. However same issue it was filthy the floor was disgusting our feet/socks were filthy From just 10 minutes in the room. The light in the bathroom needed fixing and again dirt left everywhere in the bathroom too. We ended up cleaning the floor and bathroom ourselves with a flannel. The bed linen smelt of smoke so much so that ok return home my pyjamas smelt of smoke too. In all rooms the air con was not working at all, which for this time of year is not acceptable at all. Breakfast ......give it a miss not worth the 48rmb. No choice it consists of 1 fried egg. 2 cold small chicken sausage, cold beans, coleslaw and a tuna toasted sandwich. We recommend taking a stroll down the water front and then up the road at may 4th square where you will find a lovely French bakery and cafe called Bara. All in all stay somewhere else a little more central and cleaner.

We stayed 2 nights in the basic room. The room was a bit small and dark, but very clean and comfortable. The location, for us, was very good. My complaint is about the breakfast. The first day the coffee was nice, the breakfast itself was good (if a litttle small) and the service expedient, but on the second day the coffee was watery and it took them more than 1 hour to bring the breakfast (they forgot). Considering this hotel is on the expensive side, the service could be better. That being said, i would stay here again
