I found that this is not really fully catering for western guests at the moment, it appears to be a typical 4 or 5 star Chinese hotel based on their ideas of what a 4 or 5 star hotel should be like. The room was OK to a point. There are a few different types available and to the hotel's credit, on a booking website they actually show a short panoramic video clip of the room so you have a better idea of what you will get. The room we had was large enough. However there were all the usual traits of China hotels with things like a hard bed and ancient air conditioning that did not work too well. For tourists, the TV has CCTV 9 - if you watch it. Wi fi is available (provided by China Telecom) but the hotel does not know what the password is, but rooms do have internet access via cable so that was not too much of a problem. Once settled in, I did not encounter issues with noise or cleaners hoovering the corridors at stupid o'clock. The place seemed quiet enough in that respect. There were a few minor niggles with things in the room but overall I was satisfied enough for what we paid. Regarding the service here. I Have to say that I found it to be lethargic and almost non-existent, and requiring constant reminders to get even basic things sorted. Also, the breakfast here was not too clever either, in my opinion. But....the location was good! Situated in Huang Dao and nicely placed in a downtown area, near the main beaches (Golden and Silver). The location of this hotel was a real bonus and made it feel like a decent little getaway.…
