When staff works a the same hotel for 30 years I think there's a reason. Many folks here seem to be regulars, returning customers. So am I now...The price is right, rooms quiet and spacious. English is spoken, and a little German too. Food brought back memories of homecooked German food...where else do you get a Thueringer in Cameroon? Good...

This is an old well established Hotel with German roots reflected in the cuisine , rather homey and simple. The dining area overlooking the highway below and the back of the port is a pleasant place to view the sunset over Mt Cameroon. Has beer on tap. Often a light breeze offers respite from the humid air. Rooms are comfortable,...

Because we are seafarers we were able to swim here free of charge - I don't know if this is the case for everyone. As with the rest of Douala, everything is quite expensive, but much less than other places around (so I'm told, we didn't eat anywhere else after hearing the prices). The pool is a good size, and...

Nice clean place to stay and to eat. For 40$ a night you have a large bedroom with a queen bed. The room ave impeccable and the decor (pool in a garden, nice terrace where you can eat) is very nice and quiet even if you are almost in the center of the city. Food is delicious and cheap. Great...

We had spent almost two weeks in a village in NW Cameroon, about a 10-12 hour van ride away. We were exhausted and ready for cleanliness and good food. The Foyer du Marin has clean rooms, hot showers, and delicious meals for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We loved being refreshed in the pool and relaxing in the garden area. It...

This place is clean, nice looking and the view is as good as can get in Douala, but the place has terrible customer service, the food is not very good for the price you pay and the rooms are nothing to write home about. Also there is a slew of prostitutes who seem to be working with the staff here,...

Awesome location, very clean and the Eastern European lady who runs the place is quite nice. Unfortunately - one can tell that she does not know the hospitality business. The staff who handle the restaurant area are just terrible in in customer service. Slow, rude, often ignoring customers and worst of all - seem to have no issue with prostitutes...

This place in itself is great for many reasons: location, safety, great food, quietness. We had an issue with noise (maintenance), but that was temporary and travellers should expect that from time to time. My biggest complain was about service. After reporting a broken TV and a lack of remote control the very next day after we checke-in, we spent...

This is the second time I come to FDM. It is a very clean hotel with all needed basic services and features. I love the patio overlooking the port. The service is good and the price very reasonable. I always get my airport pickup from one of the taxi drivers they advice. I will be back for sure

This place is very popular with expats, backpackers and missionaries so a reservation for a room is advisable. Manfred Kühle the sailors deacon will do almost everything to feel you at home, which can not be said of the receptionists. The rooms are very basic but complete and certainly clean. The food served in the restaurant is delicious and not...
