Detailed Reviews
Hotel's Favourite
Having worked in hotel hospitality for several years, I can happily say this is the very best hotel I have ever stayed in. I genuinely believe that all hotels should send staff here to see the service provided and what they could and should aspire to.
We were holidaying across Cambodia & Vietnam and had an all-too-short 4-night stay here at Viroths. The staff are the heart and soul of this wonderful hotel and
whilst I am very sorry to say I cannot recall names now, they certainly will remember your name and will do anything they can for you. From check-in to check-out we felt thoroughly well looked after. It was my partner's birthday during our holiday and I arranged a vintage car pick up from the airport and they also kindly dropped us back in another vintage car so we got to arrive and leave in style. They also made a cake and sang Happy Birthday at breakfast, which was a really nice surprise for him. They can arrange all sorts of trips and will personalise to whatever you require.
Rooms are spacious and cool, and ours had a lovely big balcony over the pool area. Beds are super comfy with plenty of space in the bathroom too. We were deeply impressed with housekeeping, who somehow knew when you'd left the room, even for 40 minutes at breakfast, and snuck in like little magic ninjas to make up the bed, towels etc.
Breakfast is delicious and they will make to order from a menu of various items so you can select what you'd like. I can highly recommend the local noodle soups. We ate out in the evenings and I hope the hotel won't mind me also highly recommending the Chanrey Tree just across the river and Haven for two utterly delicious Cambodian restaurants. Again, they will happily assist with any restaurant bookings. The main part of town is only a 5-minute walk away with plenty of shops if you need anything close by.
We were always personally welcomed back at any time of day with a cool towel and sometimes a drink. In the evenings they will douse you in a natural mosquito spray and although we did get bitten a couple of times, we didn't really notice any bugs at all.
Thank you to all the team at Viroths - your hotel made our trip and we were super sad to leave. Although we only saw a very small part of it, Cambodia is an amazing country with amazing friendly people - we will definitely be back and won't consider staying anywhere else! Sonia & Simon

Siem Reap has lots of very good hotels these days, but this one is a real gem. It is a smallish hotel near the centre of town, but on the quieter east bank.
We stayed 4 nights in February and wished we could have stayed longer.
Our room was on the first floor at the rear of the hotel. It was large, with a lovely light and airy bathroom with a good shower, very efficient and quiet air con, and simple but stylish fittings. There was a balcony which overlooked the outside but was well screened by foliage. Very clean, with frequent visits from housekeeping.
The bed was comfortable and the room quiet: we slept well despite jet lag. Complimentary water and tea/coffee which were regularly topped up. Decent wifi and large safe.
The hotel itself comprises 2 modern buildings either side of a pool, but the buildings are cleverly screened with palm trees and foliage so the place looks attractive. The pool is a decent size with plenty of sun loungers around it.
The eating area is open to the outside (apart from a small indoor air con area) and was very attractive and stylish. There is a small but very good spa (an offshoot of the Sokkak spas in town) which we used twice and which was good value by smart hotel standards.
So overall very good, but what makes this superb is the level of attentiveness from the staff - they are great. They are friendly, speak good English and look after you so well. They remember which room you stay in, give you a cold towel and ice tea every time you return to the hotel (not just on check in as is more normal). They also offer to put insect repellent on you as you leave for the evening, which again you do not expect even in very expensive hotels.
The breakfast is a la carte, not buffet, but the service is so quick and attentive and the quality of the food is so good (excellent avocado toast). Even the pips are removed from the watermelon!
The location is great, only 10 mins or so walk into the centre, yet in a quieter part of town. Loads of bars and restaurants everywhere. We went to Viroth’s own restaurant (5 mins walk away) twice which specialises in local Khmer food - the food was good, the outdoor courtyard setting lovely and the price reasonable. We also tried the Sokkak River Restaurant which was good, mixing local and French style cuisine. The FCC club was disappointing though.
This place is hard to criticise. It seems to attract couples and small family groups, not noisy tour parties. We would return here without a doubt if we ever return to Siem Reap.
In short, a superb boutique hotel with excellent service. Very highly recommended!

We stayed here for 5 nights in February. We booked one of the hotel packages which included a 1 day tour to the small circuit ( the main temple area ) and 1 day local tour to Tonle Sap lake. This also included return transport from the airport in one of their vintage cars which was excellent.
Our daughter had visited last year and recommended it. The hotel is well situated in a quiet side street about 10 minutes walk from the night market and Pub Street. We had a pool view room on the first floor which was lovely with nice local decor. The hotel works hard to limit plastic use which was great. Toiletries were supplied in refillable bottles and water bottles were filled daily. We loved sitting out on the balcony just relaxing.
The staff at the hotel are lovely, very friendly and helpful. All the aspects of our package were very well organised. Our tours were excellent with very knowledgeable local guides. We also organised an additional day to visit the outer temples through the hotel. We had been going to just have a driver but decided to book a guide again as it makes it easier to find the car and driver at the end of visits.
The restaurant was nice and had a good selection of local and international food. We didn’t get to the separate restaurant around the corner. We found it nice to order a chilled bottle of wine on room service and sit on the balcony.
We had a traditional Khmer massage treatment at the spa which was excellent.
The staff were really welcoming with cold drinks and towels when we returned and squirts of insect repellent when we were going out in the evening. We loved it here and would happily return.

I am sitting in Viroth's as I write this, with a heavy heart because we have to return home to the UK tomorrow.
Eight days ago we arrived to be enthusiastically greeted by a member of staff who said "you have stayed here before, I remember you". And THAT sums up Viroth's - the staff. The hotel is all about the staff and it is they who make your stay here so very special. How so? The house keeping staff has, somehow, a system where you never see them. Everywhere we have stayed you invariably get a prompt knock on the door to tidy your room in the morning or they can be heard banging doors and bellowing to each other along the corridor – not Viroth’s. I don’t know if they get notification that the room has been vacated when you hand your key in at reception but we have never been bothered by them with the familiar “housekeeping” cry.
The reception staff ALWAYS welcome you back with a chilled Tiger Balm infused hand cloth and wish you a relaxing and restful evening. The restaurant staff are incredibly attentive and, again, cannot do enough for you, and as for the pool staff I could have cried for them each day a breeze blew leaves off the trees into the pool which they relentlessly retrieved (a bit like painting the Forth Rail Bridge, never ending).
There is a fleet of very special executive cars which are used for guests to take them to the airport (or wherever guests require), an immaculate 1976 Rolls Royce no less.
I could wax lyrical endlessly, suffice it to say Viroth’s is a very special place and the staff make you feel very special. As for their English, of course they all have wonderful English.
Being a 60+ well travelled woman Viroth’s is easily the most exceptional hotel my wife and I have ever stayed in, and all because of the staff.

As soon as you arrive at the hotel entrance you are greeted by a friendly member of staff who hands you a cool towel and a cool drink with a smile. All the staff at the hotel are kind and very helpful, anything you want they will provide it for you, nothing seems to be an issue. My friend and I are vegetarian, the staff made sure that they gave us plenty of options for food and drink. The rooms are spotless and spacious. The hotel also houses a pool, which is like stepping in a Luke warm bath .The hotel is located in a great area, where it's easy to walk to local shops, markets and restaurants. I enjoyed staying at this hotel and I would love to go back again.

I stayed at this hotel for 4 nights, 5 days. I had a wonderful time at the end of January/beginning of February 2020. The staff is very attentive and constantly asking / offering help for anything you can imagine. The breakfasts are plentiful and you order off a menu but can eat as much as you want from (eggs, cereals, meats/cheeses, yogurt, fruits, bread and croissants, pho to name some of the of the items). The swimming pool is salt water (not chlorine) which makes it very nice! The spa was great and I had a 4 hand massage and would highly recommend it! They start by washing your feet in the waiting area and then bring you to the room which has lovely flowers (orchids/lilies) floating in the water when you lie down on the table to look at when you begin your massage. The room was fabulous with a great bed, spacious bathroom, and great views of the pool. I did have AC and it worked just fine not sure about other reviews I have read. I did have a 2-day tour of Siem Reap that was organized through the hotel.
- The driver was wonderful but will say I wish I had a different guide.
- If you are a family or single the tour guides seem to cater more to larger groups. I think I wouldn't have gotten as much out of Siem Reap without the tour guide but still wish he had been willing to give more history, explanation, and stay with me during our visits at each site. Often, he would encourage me to climb up a temple or explore on my own. I did see other groups with their guides at the tops of these historic sites giving a nice description or explanation. The only exception is Angkor Wat's main temple you have to climb yourself. All the other sites you can have your tour guide go with you to all the sites. I would encourage you to ask in detail about what the tour guide will and will not do and options for lunch as it was not clear. Finally, study a map of the complex and figure out where you want to go and make sure it's on your itinerary. You may also want to check again as you are driving to Angkor Wat with your guide to make sure the itineary set up is the one you will be doing that day. They are flexible but things can get cut out or skipped so just be mindful. Also, never leave the Tuk Tuk or car without water as the drivers often leave from one side of the temple to meet you on the other side.

This hotel is just perfect. The interior design is impressive with immaculate attention to details. They have incorporated the Khmer culture in the decor with refinement and sophistication. The products in the bathroom are quality, including shampoo, conditioner, soap, lotion and hair gel. The bedding was very nice. The bed itself and pillows were perfect for a great night’s sleep. We absolutely loved the pool surrounded by an oasis of vegetation: romantic hanging vines, colorful leaves, subtle flowers. The poolside service was so good. They once gave us a free coconut because the one they initially brought us was too frozen, although we had not even noticed a problem with it ourselves! The staff at this hotel has to be the most kind, friendly, respectful and welcoming of any hotel I have ever visited. If this is your first visit to Cambodia, this hotel will be a wonderful first impression. They picked us up from the airport in a 1976 Rolls Royce, which was beautiful! The staff was very kind with our little 3 year old daughter. The breakfast included was very generous and good quality. Even the couch in our room was very comfortable! I also liked the fan over the divan on the balcony to make sitting outside more comfortable. This hotel pays attention to detail and really ticks all the boxes! The cocktails are excellent. The restaurant’s food is quite good. I recommend the salmon tagliatelle or the fried noodles with chicken. We also took a tour of the temples of Angkor in the Rolls Royce, which was really memorable. We have also stayed in the Sofitel in siem reap and would hands down choose Viroth’s hotel over the Sofitel again so much was Viroth’s just overall a better experience. If you book at Viroth’s, you won’t regret it! We will happily stay there again upon our next visit!

It was a last a minute itinerary change that meant we ended up at the Viroth’s for 3 nights and it turned out to be the best 3 nights of our stay in Cambodia.
All the staff; reception, bar, restaurant, cleaning & gardening were all so welcoming and friendly. The rooms are elegantly & tastefully decorated with thoughtful additions, such as one plug socket which doesn’t go off once you remove the key from the wall so if you need to leave something on charge you can. Every time you returned to the hotel you were handed a cold towel & when you left to go out in the evening you were offered mosquito repellent. There is a call button on your table by the pool which you can press if you require food & drink during the day time and breakfast is a la carte so you basically don’t have to lift a finger. They don’t have an elevator but given that is your only exercise probably just as well!! The spa treatment we booked was the best I have ever had and again it was an entire experience, not just a treatment. To top off our wonderful stay they offered us a complimentary transfer to our next hotel in Siem Reap in their beautiful Rolls Royce. If you are in Siem Reap you must stay here!!

My wife and I loved our stay at Viroth’s hotel. The property is gorgeous with a beautiful pool area in the center. The room was very spacious. The pool facing rooms were all booked, so we booked a street facing room. We were a little worried it might be noisy. However, the hotel is on a quiet street, so it was actually very quiet and peaceful. Breakfast is ordered a la carte, and it was absolutely delicious. If you are waking up early for a sunrise tour, they will even pack you a picnic breakfast, which leads me to the best part about this hotel- the people. Everyone was incredibly kind and helpful. They would great you at the property with cool towel and tea. They would offer to spray your arms and legs with citronella if you were about to go walking at night. If you needed a tour or a driver, they were happy to help. They really made our stay perfect.
Just one more thing. If you are into historic cars, they have some really cool old Mercedes and Rolls Royce vehicles. You can even request an airport transfer in one of these beautiful vehicles. Just one more unique touch that makes this hotel so special.

Stayed for 4 nights in March for a tour of the temples. It is a wonderful oasis with beautiful gardens and pool area. The gardens were well tended during our visit and beautiful to observe from the pool or dining area. It is well situated for the markets. All the staff are extremely friendly and nothing is too much trouble, from a cold flannel, tamarind drink and great welcome on returning to the hotel to mosquito spray on the way out. Dining and poolside service is also great; breakfast is served from order (recommend the avocado toast!) and they are very attentive, refilling hot and cold drinks etc as needed. At the poolside there is a button to call for service and they are quick to refresh sunloungers as people leave. We enjoyed cocktails and the fish tacos. Definitely also recommend their restaurant (15% discount for hotel guests). Rooms either overlook the front road or the rear or inner rooms overlook the pool. They are very well fitted with lovely balcony area, large shower, all toiletries, kettle, fridge, safe etc. Very comortable and good AC and fan. Definitely recommend and would return if in Siem Reap.

Please check directly with this phenomenal hotel! They know their rooms best. This hotel is best ever. See my reviews. Their rooms, their rooms, their service, style, quality, attention… all 5++ star!
The driver will pick you up day and night. For long stays be sure to ask a complimentary drop of, the staff will be glad to accommodate you !
I was travelling with my daughter. Our room was big with a king bed. Im not sure if they have such room configurations. The hotel is amazing and i am sure they will accomodate your requests if they can.
Just call reception. I think the spa closes late They had no problem booking us in at 9pm and not rushing us . Excellent massages after a day sightseeing.
There 3 ways to do it:
1. Book at the front reception
2. Book at the Spa reception
3. Drop them an email about Spa reservation.
