My husband and I stayed for our second time for five nights in a Valley Tent so had wonderful views of the waterhole activities night and day. To see the ghostly elephant parades silently passing our tent during the night was an awe inspiring experience....More
Our self-contained "tent" was solid, secure and luxurious. It faced east. so we awoke in our four-poster bed, opened the door and watched the perfect African dawn, with elephant. and impala wandering to or from the watering hole.
Staff were attentive, friendly and professional, especially...More
What a wonderful experience Elephant Valley Lodge was from start to finish. Located a short drive off the main road, we were welcomed with cool drinks and shown to our tent - it was literally feet away from the watering hole complete with elephant families...More
Elephant Valley is a great experience for those who want a feel for the old Africa Tented Camps, and yet they offer all modern amenities. A watering hole near by allows you to watch animals all day from the camp and is lighted at night...More
This tented lodge has an electrified fence which prevents most animals from walking through it. As a result, it is safe to get to and from your tent without the need for an escort - unlike other camps we visited. The rooms at this lodge...More

Good day. The past month of November has been great. It is a hot month still but as it is the start of the rainy season, it has cooled down a bit. I personally love November as everything comes to life after the dry season.

Hi there, I recommend SAA from Joburg to VicFalls; Zimbabwe-visa has gone cheaper and now costs 30 USD (cash!) instead of 50. Don't let others tell you the falls are in Zambia, as the best view (and the park to walk alongside it) is and always was in Zim for sure. My recommendation: do not miss "High Tea" in the Victoria Falls Hotel (USD 15) - an absolute must - apart from experiencing the friendly Zimbabwean service you will also see the bridge and the spray of the falls while dining on cucumber sandwiches. Camp sites in Zim are clean and generally safe. The people are extremely friendly and will be grateful you visit their negative-news-ridden country. Have fun!

We found that if you leave a tip at the reception, this will be split between all the staff at the lodge, which is great for people working behind the scenes. If you want to tip an individual guide who has taken you on a game drive/boat cruise then give them the tip directly. Tip amount is entirely up to you, but we gave our guides between $5-$10 per trip
