We went to the restaurant Thiptara - the food was amazing and really good quality. We were served by Kumar who was the best host ever! He was so kind and accommodating and helped us with everything we needed. Amazing service.
Once more i had excellent stay in Palace Downtown hotel. Very clean hotel big and comfortable rooms with top quality service and very friendly staff especially Mr Shantosh Sharma Duty Manager who was always there to help me with my stay. The Breakfast also i could say was at high standars. The service by the pool area was at high standards too. I have already booked for October my next holidays which i am looking forward
I have stayed at a number of 5 star hotels in Dubai, and around the World, and I can honestly say that the Palace was a real disappointment...as high as were my expectations. Location next to Dubai Mall is really great but that’s about all the positive I can find about this place. To be completely fair I should admit that the view from rooms is great, and so are the common areas and the pool area. I had booked a fountain view suite which clearly showed its age, even if the hotel apparently went recently through a cosmetic refurbishment. There was not a single easily accessible plug for your electronic devices : I had to unplug some items in the room and dive behind the furniture to find some plugs. How this can be in our digital age ? The bath mattresses were worn out, no drinking glass in the room, only four clothes hangers available... Windows are very poorly sound proofed so you benefit from the noise of the external clients at the lounge by the pool late at night and from the construction sites the hotel faces. The furniture is worn out and the AC cannot be adjusted to your desired temperature. I finally switched it off in the bedroom not to freeze. There were other guests complaining about their room when I checked in... My wife having back issues, and the pillows bring extra soft, we ordered at 11am for the neck support u-shaped pillow advertise on the fancy app on the iPad you have in the room. At 5pm, when coming back in the room, with no pillow in sight, we called the reception to request it again. A guy turned up at 7pm with a couple of pillows, but the same we had in the room and promised he would come back with the requested pillow. At 11.30 pm, coming back from dinner, still no pillow... Called again the reception who said they might have some but will depend on availability... Couldn’t they have told this in the morning when we first ordered ?? Receptionist then promised to call back within 15 minutes to update... After 30 minutes we rang back having heard nothing. Excuse this time was that housekeeping was very busy (at midnight ??) Finally 20 minutes later, a guy delivered a cushion, the same type you put around your neck while travelling on the plane, which had obviously been used before. Are you seriously expected to sleep with this in a 5 star hotel ?? Honestly I expected much better. The breakfast was a complete let down as well : very limited choice, very dry and bad croissants and the only gluten free option was a plastic wrapped mini bread loaf hard as a stone and testing like sand... How can a 5 star hotel not have any decent gluten free bread ?? So, a hotel with a beautiful architecture in a great location but with a subpar service and quality for the category and price you pay. I will definitely not come back even being a U by Emaar member. Will go back next time to the Jumeirah hotels, the one & only hotels, the Ritz Carlton or the Four Seasons that I have all tried and that really deliver the luxury experience you expect from a 5 star hotel. …
I went today to the spa for my massage at 7:30PM. After my massage, I went to relax in the dedicated room. It was time for me to leave so I went to the reception and nobody was there. I was a little surprise that nobody from the staff is waiting for you. I went back to the spa room and all the staff left. I tried to open the door to leave and there were locked. Hopefully, I found a housekeeping staff who called the security of the hotel to open the doors. Locked to the spa was not my plan of the day. I went there to relax but my experience was very bad. I am so disappointed by the staff who are careless.
I came to Dubaï first time in March 2021 with my girlfriend and we fell in love with Palace Downtown instantaneously, that’s why we came back in April 2021. The staff is always very friendly, kind and, mostly, they remembered us. When we opened the room door, petals were in our bed with the inscription “Welcome back” and a cake was waiting for us on the table. Same thing when we told them we were leaving tonight : they gave us a cake at the breakfast table. A very and warm special THANK YOU to these people for being one of the best kind people I’ve ever met : Sarf Raz, Humdy, Asel, Chin, Mark, Sanu and the incredible reception friend Yana. Thank you for taking care of us and making us love this hotel more and more!! We love you guys ❤️ Océane Terrettaz & Sandra Maia
