Upon arrival at the guest house, which is situated in the old quarter of Dubai, my wife and I were told that we had no reservations for our projected 3 day stay. We had our hotel in Muscat call this establishment on the basis of a guide book recommendation. We furnished the manager the confirmation number, the time and date...

Located in the old Bastakiya. So right in the middle of old dubai, 5 minutes walk from the creek, the Bur Dubai Souk or the abra boat station. No traffic in this heritage neighboorhood, so very quiet. Great breakfast buffet. Very friendly and helpful staff. Comfy beds. Outside temperature around 22° C, so A/C turned off. No problem. No artsy/fartsy...

We stayed at the Orient Guest House for only one night and we enjoyed it thoroughly. The room and service were great. We stayed in one of the Mumtaz Rooms. The location and surroundings of the guest house are really nice. You get a feel of the old Dubai; very different from the high rises and artificial (but fascinating) constructions....

Stayed here a couple of years ago and it was fantastic. But this time ... very disappointing. In fact, we'd booked for 2 nights and stayed only 1. We'd booked online, but when we got there, apparently the online service had not notified them of our booking. Finally, after about 45 minutes of attempting to check in with someone whose...

The Orient Guest House is situated in Batakiya, the oldest part of Dubai and walking distance to the museum, the creek, abra taxi boats and lots of Indian run shops of all descriptions. The building itself is attractive and set amongst other restored wind tower houses. Unfortunately the high quality restoration of this area has neglected to provide any shade...

Pros: Great breakfast Attentive Staff Unique place - much better than the Western 5 Star Hotels on every corner - experience the old fashion Dubai They keep the rooms very cool which is important when it is 110 degrees out We used the pool at the sister property which is a block away. When it is as hot and humid...

If you are looking for an American-style, 4 or 5 star experience for comfort and service, the Orient Guest House is not for you. The mattress was semi-hard and both pillows were nearly flat , linen/bathroom supplies were replaced sporadically, it appeared as though the floors weren't swept out during our entire visit, and our room was not serviced at...

I stayed in the Orient Guest House for 2 nights on July 2009. The hotel and the rooms were nice but believe me inside it was an oven. I asked the receptionist 3 times to check the A/C as I believe it was not working at its full power. The tv channels that were available in my room were the...

Staying in The Creek

Neighbourhood Profile
The Creek
The smell of frankincense hangs thick and heavy in the air, waves lap gently at jetties, and market traders call to passing tourists. The creek, originally the place where pearl boats docked and left on missions to uncover jewels from the deep, is where the city really began. The Al Fahidi District on the Creekside is one of the oldest heritage sites in Dubai, easily recognizable with its iconic wind towers, the original air conditioning. Home to the Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding and the Dubai Museum, the old buildings also house a range of cafes, shops and art galleries. Often called “the real Dubai,” this is a wonderful place to lose yourself before catching an abra across the creek to the spice souk, where your senses will be overwhelmed with tastes, smells, and sounds.
