We spent 3 nights at XVA Hotel. There were only 9 rooms on an arty part of Dubai near the Ruler's Court and Dubai Museum. It would take 3-5 minutes walk to the main entrance after coming off the taxi. It is near the Al Fahidi Roundabout. The staff were excellent and very friendly. It was an excellent detox breakfast...

An excellent stay if you want to experience the more authentic Dubai. Very clean. Perfect atmoshpere. Very good breakfast. For a perfect authentic lunch and dinner you can also pay a visit to the Arabic teahouse right around the corner. Very recommendable!

Hotel situated in the old town, very quiet (except for loud speakers calling Muslims to prayer) Friendly staff, lots of lovely little touches in the room, good aircon, breakfast tasty and unusual. Only complaint is the loo roll was very poor quality although it's not used by locals I think.

If you an art lover and want to stay in a heritage area this is the perfect place. Easy walk to Metro station, Soukh, We celebrated our daughters 18. birthday and the manager arranged a cake and let decorate the private space next to our rooms. Big thanks again.

Good location for walking old Dubai. Historic buildings near by. Service excellent with friendly staff and good quality breakfast. However......... noisy airco needed maintenance and drain of shower was not operating properly. Comment to staff gave no significant improvement.

This hotel is unique - a real gem. Full of art and beauty and tranquility. I love the place. Two things to improve: 1) replace the bed in room 5 with a softer one. 2) keep the restaurant open late (upon request?)

Located in Bur Dubai, very near Textile, Gold and Spice souks, walking distance if you don't mind a 10-15 minute walk. Very friendly and efficient staff, especially Brandon, Joy and Bong. While the hotel in itself is a bit tricky to find, the area is surrounded by lovely cafes and restaurants. Would love to stay here again when we visit...

Hidden in the old part of Dubai away from the bright lights and tall towers is this boutique hotel set in an art gallery/restaurant. Gives us a little feel of old Middle East rather than the glitzy modern hotel chain. Great friend staff. Spacious/ clean rooms, great location.

For the artistically and historically minded who want the earthly feeling of cozy that is juxtaposed to the glamour that marks the rest of Dubai, the XVA absolutely must be your hotel. It may be a bit hard to find but it was also part of the fun navigating the old alleyways!

I have been here twice in 2016 and loved my stays - quiet in an historic neighbourhood away from the hustle of malls and skyskrapers! Close to the Creek, Dubai Museum and Metro and bus terminal. Good breakfast in a lovely courtyard. Will always my perfect place in Dubai

Staying in The Creek

Neighbourhood Profile
The Creek
The smell of frankincense hangs thick and heavy in the air, waves lap gently at jetties, and market traders call to passing tourists. The creek, originally the place where pearl boats docked and left on missions to uncover jewels from the deep, is where the city really began. The Al Fahidi District on the Creekside is one of the oldest heritage sites in Dubai, easily recognizable with its iconic wind towers, the original air conditioning. Home to the Sheikh Mohammed Centre for Cultural Understanding and the Dubai Museum, the old buildings also house a range of cafes, shops and art galleries. Often called “the real Dubai,” this is a wonderful place to lose yourself before catching an abra across the creek to the spice souk, where your senses will be overwhelmed with tastes, smells, and sounds.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
A stylish and peaceful boutique hotel, XVA is set within the heart of Al Fahidi quarter, formerly known as Bastakiya, the oldest region of Dubai. Unique for its Persian architectural heritage, its maze-like alleyways and proximity to the Creek, Al Fahidi is viewed today as one of the cultural centrepoints of Dubai. XVA occupies a renovated traditional majilis-style building, boasting original architectural motifs and wind towers and three open courtyards, in which one can relax and soak up the exceptional atmosphere of this heritage space. XVA’s Art Hotel includes twelve boutique rooms, designed by well-established designers and artists from the region. These include Zayan Ghandour, Numa, Nada Debs & Karim Rashid (Gaia&Gino). The XVA Art Hotel is covered in many national and international travel publications. Featured in Condé Nast Traveller as one of the 10 hotels to stay in Dubai and in 2006 as the number 1 “Not To Miss” spot in Dubai, Wallpaper magazine mentioned us as a boutique hotel to stay. Lonely planet listed us twice in their recent Dubai guide as a place to stay and to have lunch. For transit travellers, this hotel is ideal due to its close proximity to Dubai International airport. ... more   less
