A weekend stay at Bab Al Shams was the perfect mini holiday! The hotel has a very special feel, with a simple but elegant Arabic style, complemented by efficient, respectful and friendly service. The rooms had all one could ask for, giving a homely tranquil feeling, where the espresso machine was a plus! And very cool to lay in the...

We've just returned from a weekend away at Bab Al Shams. We arrived on Thursday evening and as part of our package we had a late checkout so we left late afternoon on the Saturday. The hotel is beautiful, perhaps not quite as secluded as advertised but we loved the rooms, the grounds and the spectacular pool. The staff were...

We purchased an all inclusive package. We were picked up from our hotel in Dubai and transported to the property in a very nice 4WD vehicle. The property is magnificent, it's let stepping back in time. The staff are fantastic! You most definitely have to do the Arabian experience dinner show under the stars! Beautiful architecture, beautiful food, fantastic activities....

I along with my wife and parents visited Dubai in 2011 and decided to spend some time in Bab-al-shams as it was recommended to us by a relative. The resort has got some really nice views of the desert and has a nice swimming pool overlooking the desert. For lunch we tried Al Forsan, however the most amazing part was...

The Resort is close to Dubai, but sufficiently remote. It's very classy. The pools are awesome. I recommend it for couples, but you can go with friends as well (as I did). The food from the restaurants wasn't as good as in Dubai itself, but ok. Personnel are polite are helpful. They have camel back rides, hawks and shows with...

Everything was incredible at this hotel from the service, to the rooms, to the atmosphere. We arrived very late at night and it was wonderful to be greeted so warmly from the 2 men working out of the front of the hotel. The hotel is about an hour away from Dubai but they have free shuttles everyday that take you...

We live in Abu Dhabi and so stayed at Bab Al Shams to combine some luxury with a weekend of cycling as there is an incredible cycling track all through the desert right outside the hotel. We didn't think the hotel was as incredible as some of the other luxury desert hotels in the region. It was a lovely weekend...

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Translated from Arabic as "Gateway to the sun", the *award-winning 5-star Bab Al Shams Desert Resort & Spa is designed to resemble a fortified rural Arab village amidst the desert landscape. Featuring low-rise architecture, this sandy coloured style fort boasts the main tower with Reception area and lobby and clusters of two-storey buildings housing guest accommodation, restaurants, spa and meeting facilities interconnected by seemingly endless little walkways. The charm of Arabia is personified in every corner of the property with small lanes running through the hotel, scattered around ponds and secluded seating areas, shaded courtyards, water fountains and trickling streams bestowing the feel of cool tranquillity. The abundance of green garden areas and manicured lawns adds to the quiet and soothing environment of the resort. The rustic Arabian theme of exterior design continues to flow in the carefully selected interior decorations and settings featuring uncovered natural stone floors, bare plastered walls, dark wood and iron fixtures, warm dimmed lighting and an abundance of artefacts showcased throughout the property. The resort boasts 113 rooms and suites offering cosy accommodation in an authentic Arabian style with majority of the rooms having a private terrace. All guest rooms and public areas have complimentary Wi-Fi access. *World's Leading Desert Resort, World Travel Awards. ... more   less
